We disagree. Referees should not leave the floor in chaos.:taz:

Clyde, with all due respect, unless you were at the game you cannot understand what happened based on the crappy video feed from iHigh. Numerous eyewitness posters, including those without bias, as well as newspaper articles, have stated it was total confusion. It was chaos, pure and simple. One ref signaled game over, the other signaled ball out of bounds on Scott player, and then they bolted out. Even the coaches were confused. EVERYONE JUST STOOD AROUND AND LOOKED AT EACH OTHER FOR SEVERAL MINUTES! Is it that incomprehensible to you to consider the fact that perhaps the refs made a huge mistake?

I didn't need to be there to see that the horn went off simultaneously with the whistle. You say one ref signaled game over (correctly) and another signaled OOB (correctly). The official making the OOB call's first reaction is to call what he/she sees. It was called correctly. HOWEVER, at the same time the horn goes off and the other official correctly signals that. How is that "chaos?"

I'm still waiting for the "huge mistake." Its not there. Just because there is confusion doesn't mean a call was incorrect. The game was over. Nothing was going to change.

You watch that video and tell me how much time should have gone on the clock. By the way, use the rulebook which says that in order to put time back on the clock you must have "definite knowledge."

Scott County beat Rockcastle County 62-59 Saturday afternoon, but both teams stood at their benches and both coaches raised their arms asking if the game was over after several calls late in the game, including a whistle just before the horn sounded in the semifinal game at E.A. Diddle Arena.

“It was a situation where we didn't know whether to go to the locker room or what the hold-up was,” Scott County coach Steve Helton said.

After Stainback missed the second of two free throws with 6.5 seconds left, Sarah Hammond pulled down the rebound and the Lady Rockets moved the ball down the floor.

Jackie Alexander had the ball near the top of the key when it was batted out of her hand, and Scott County's Alex McKenzie dove towards the baseline to save it. The official on the baseline blew her whistle, but the horn sounded and the all-Louisville officiating crew raced to its locker room — marking the end of the game.

“She blew her whistle,” Rockcastle County coach Chrysti Noble said. “But everybody was already gone (when Noble tried to question the call). Even the (alternate) official at the table was already out of there. I don't know what to tell you.”

Clyde, you seem to be the only one who is able to tell definitively that the game was indeed over.

Chaos throughout...but since you werent there, I will digress and understand that my eyes, ears, and all other body systems deceived me and that you are probably right. I am sorry for doubting you.:isurrender::idunno::notworthy:

Incorrect.

Watch the video of the game. The center official (opposite the benches) clearly waves that the game is over.

People think that officials run off of the floor solely to "escape." Obviously, there are times that you know its not going to be pleasant if you stick around.

There wasn't a single person in the arena watching the official at center court. Every eye in the building was on the baseline, where strangeness was going on.

What made the last call so difficult was that that was the last of a series of questionable calls throughout the game that seemed to intensify in the last minute or two. Tough break for a great bunch of girls and the best coach in the state.

Coach Noble sat in front of me for the championship game Saturday night. A couple of people approached her and I overheard some of their statements. She never once said anything negative toward anyone (like I may have done withouth thinking). She handled herself with more class and dignity than I would have in that situation.

Coach Noble is 1st class. She has done a great job. She has made Rockcaslte girls basketball the top program.

OK. That doesn't change the fact that the offical signaled game over, correct? When the horn blows , the official waves his/her hands signaling game over, and the officials run off the court together, what exactly is the question? Why would one think that the game still might be on?

Glad to hear it. We need more like her.

"Just before the horn sounded" is technically correct. No argument but it was less than one second between the whistle and horn. That's normal and impossible to avoid. So , again since you've refused to answer the question, using the rules the referees are forced to use how much time should have been put back on? What is your justification? If you can't answer that question within the confines of a)reality and b)the rules then its game over.

And before we play the little game of "well you're not going to criticize fellow officials" harken back to the Franklin Co thread where I said not only did the miss the call at the buzzer but they also missed the travel call. Officials, including me, make mistakes on calls. I have no problem admitting when my brothers and sisters do ie Franklin Co so lets just stick to what the video shows.

Obviously Clyde doesn't get what happened. If he had a team in it and they got as many crappy calls as Rockcastle he would understand why Rock fans, and alot of other school fans and even people that didn't have a dog in the fight have been saying. The Refs did a poor job calling the game and communicating with each other.

Let me ask you then since others have bailed on me.

Watch the video (not what you recall happened in your mind) and tell me how a referee knows how much time to put on the clock.

Tell me why they timeout call granted to Scott County late in the game was the wrong call.

I've admitted in this thread (I think) and many others that I'm open to the fact that officials make mistakes. Happens every game at all levels. I just haven't seen any legit complaints yet. I've seen some that are debatable (2nd foul on the big girl/foul late in the game on a pass by SC). I keep hearing about the last play but can't find where they screwed up.

I only go by the video. Seems like they got it right.

Lastly, I fully understand the emotions of the fans. They want it badly for their family/friends/classmates. Your emotions take over and you're looking at every call with a biased eye. I do it. We all do it. However, as is often the case, when we go back and watch replays its not like we remembered.

P.S. the video of the entire game is online. Go through it and point out all of the "crappy calls." I'll be glad to take a look.
