Congratulations to Isaac Wilson. He seemed to be a fine person from my observations on Saturday, as he held off on celebrating to console a couple of seniors who'd just played their last high school game. I thought that was quite a classy move, and is likely a statement to the kind of person he is.

Speaking of parents, there's two more that need to receive a lot of credit, Issac's mom and dad. They spent a lot of time and money taking Issac to AAU games, camps,....as do many of these parents, and I know he appreciates everything they have done for him. Good job mom and dad!!:thumb:

Issac is as classy as they come, he knows what's important in his life other than the game of basketball, such as God and his parents...to me if a young man can see that then he's a great person!

After talking to the coaches in the summer, it looked like a two-man race between St. John and Miller, with Johnson third. I think most of the posters also said one of those three.

Wilson had a great season though. He comes to play every night.

 

I saw several college coaches talking to him and Johnson and Hooker after Saturday's games.

I could not remember the name of the kid from B-ville. Hildebrand is a nice player, Wagner and Likins could also make the list. I believe Clay Co. will have 3 and Bell Co. and Knox could have two each. They should be the top 3 teams in the region next year. I will go ahead and pick my top 5 teams next year.

I'd move Mitchell from Clay County up in some of those lists. He had a really strong game against Corbin, and should pick up much of the scoring responsibility that Reed and Wilson have left behind.

Anything new with Wilson and Johnson concerning playing at the next level? I had heard that Berea was interested, but that neither qualified financially to go to Berea.

North Laurel will be young, but they will be much better than most think. They have some very solid young players and with the emergence of Likins, Carson & Spencer plus the younger Shears and Eversole kids, they will be competitive. It may be the middle of the season, but Conway does seem to have his team ready for the postseason.

 

I agree that Clay should be the favorite coming into the season.

North Laurel does better than I expect just about every year. They lost so much though. Their JV team was average and the freshmen team was pretty bad, so I don't expect them to be as deep.

 

Conway always impresses me, but I always wonder how they lose so many games when I see them. I know a tough schedule plays a big part in that though. It does help them in the tournaments.

I think this year they had to learn for others to step up after losing Seidel who literally led them in every category his senior season. I really believe that the kids he has coming up will be pretty solid. I don't see them competing for a region title, ... but I didn't think they would do that this year. Conway is becoming a very good coach. He doesn't even have all the kids in the North district playing at North. If they can ever get that, he can build a good program.
