With district play about half over, let's see those district predictions. Here are mine below:

 

45th District: Boyle should come out in the top spot, but Danville is a strong wild card for an upset if they make it to the finals. The second spot is between Danville and Lincoln.

 

46th District: I am going with West to repeat, some may call this an upset as Mercer looks strong. My Pick is West-1, Mercer-2.

 

47th District: Who Knows? Any thing can happen is this district. Rock should be the favorite. Casey may have the advantage with the home court in District play. If SHS finds some late season help they could be a wildcard. PC is right in the thick of things.

 

48th District: Baring any unforseen upsets, Watts, Dixon, and Roark should lead MC to the District and Region Championship. WC - SW to close to call, it is an any given sunday situation with them.

45th- 1. Boyle 2. Lincoln

 

46th- 1. Mercer 2. West Jess

 

47th- 1. Rock 2. Casey

 

48th- 1. McCreary 2. Wayne

McCreary took care of SW tonight at the reservation. Pretty much sets the district match ups. McCreary v. Monticello and SW v. WC. MC should have them all covered. Again the SW v. WC is still a toss up. Wayne will be the favorite regardless of who gets the number 2 seed.

Rock plays Casey tomorrow night also, that may shed a little more light on the seeding in the 47th district.

That was also the first round game, which had been a struggle for the Raiders for a while.

 

With that said, McCreary will face Monticello. With a win, they've ensured themselves a spot in the region.

 

Remember, last season McCreary was in a struggle against Southwestern and ultimately, they prevailed and rolled the Cardinals for the title.

Guess you all forget that Southwestern has beat Wayne by 20 and has kept up with McCreary but just can't put two good halves together against them.

If Watts and company are playing Southwestern again this season then that means Southwestern has had a very successful post season by making it to the district finals after defeating Wayne Co. This would be huge momentum going into next season for a team that starts 4 sophomores. With that being said I think McCreary and Wayne will come out of the 48th. Not saying SW can't or won't beat Wayne Co., they already have by 20 at home. The SW/Wayne Co. game will be one of the best first round games come post season.

I agree with you about the 47th. Anything can happen. All 4 teams are about the same with Rockcastle having the edge at this time. Somerset could find a bright spot in this not so stellar season if they could make it to region. Pulaski Co., and their 3 freshmen, is another team that would build some momentum for next season if they could make it to region. If Somerset and Pulaski Co. were to meet in the first round of district then this could be another one of the really good first round games just because of the rivalry.

In the 45th district Boyle will come out along with Lincoln Co. Danville may have something to say about that as they are playing decent basketball right now heading into the All A State. The Lincoln/Danville first round game will be yet another great first round game.

The 46th is the only district that I can say with confidence that West Jessamine and Mercer Co. will be representing in the region. I don't think East Jessamine has the horses to keep up with Mercer or West.

. If Somerset and Pulaski Co. were to meet in the first round of district then this could be another one of the really good first round games just because of the rivalry.

If thinks hold true to form based on records right now that is where they would have to meet. Rock has the number 1 seed and PC the number 2. Casey and Somerset will be playing for the 3 and 4. If SHS beats Casey on Thursday, the PC games looms big. Could come down to a coin toss if PC wins. Or SHS creats a first rd match up with PC if they can win both district games at home. SHS loses to Casey on thrusday then the distric matches are set.

SWHS is capable of competeing with McCreary. They hung with them at McCreary when McCreary shot lights out and they played with McCreary the other night when they didnt shoot well. It just depends what kind of night both teams are having. McCreary is taking three people and guarding Rob Lewis inside forcing other people to shoot and beat them. If SW gets passed Wayne and is shooting well when they play McCreary they have a shot. McCreary won both games by nearly twenty. They won by 19 at home and 18 in the Wigwam. How does that constitute as "staying with them." Thing is, McCreary had an off night in Somerset when they played Southwestern and still beat them handily.

 

I'm not saying that Southwestern can't beat the Raiders, but you are making it sound like a missed shot here and there beat them.
