Walton Verona 40 Owen County 30

Owen did not shoot well but I am sure WV had something to do with that. The rematch should be interesting.

The rematch should be good (next Wednesday) but it really means nothing since it's not an All A tournament game or a district game. Yes, it is a conference game but that's not as important as the other two.

They had a lot of open shots that didn't go in.

If Walton pushed it, they win by 20. Most of Owens shots were contested and a lot of the open ones were from bad angles. Walton's defense was very impressive.

For the record, I am a neutral who just happened to be at the game.

This game can be summed up by the simplest of assessments. Walton made shots and Owen did not and that is the name of the game.

Does Gayheart whine and xry about every call against her?

Well she plays hard, and is very emotional about the game. I think that says alot about a player. Now if she comes off as though she is complaining I think you have to look at what kind of player she is.

Could WV's defense had anything to do with that? Sometimes it only takes one run to win games and tonight was an example. If Walton hadn't slowed it down and used a ball control offense in the 4th quarter, it may have been worse. Give credit where credit is due. Defense wins championships.

Yes it does!

I highly doubt that Owen's best shot was 30 points. Gayheart and Kemper both had bad games. Outside of Walton Verona's third quarter run, the game is even.

Kemper did not have her usual game but her grandmother was buried earlier in the day. I am sure it had an effect.

Good game for WV. They pulled the ball out and slowed it down at the end. A last second 3 point shot made it only a 10 point victory for WV.

Good luck to WV in the finals....!

Very impressed with Neeley from Owen, also thought Wainscott had a great game.

Form Walton.. Dixon and Sandlin played very well also!

Suprised that you thought Wainscott had a great game. I thought she did well considering she turned her ankle in warm-ups but she did not have as good of a game as she usually does. Neeley is very impressive and has a very bright future.

Wainscott's speed really was unmatched by anyone else on the court..even with a bad ankle. She also plays very good defense which in my opinion is a part of the game that is often overlooked by those of us talking about top players.

Agreed.

I view Wainscott as the best guard Owen County has this year.

Have you ever said anything positive about Gayheart? I can not find anything.
