Was really wanting Holmes to win this one. According to the KOB site updates the score was tied at the end of 3rd.

Trae Golden lead Mceachern with 23 points and iced the game with 6 free throws down the stretch.

Pittman lead Holmes with 17, JJ had 12, Ric had 9, Avery 5, Slusher 4, and Rice had 3

Holmes was up 29-28 at half, Mceachern threw a 2-3 zone on in the second half and Holmes couldn't deal with it.

They have seen it several times this year and have been unsettled by it everytime. They struggled with Zone against beechwood and at times against st henry and tonight vs the school from Ga. Not sure but Bowman may have played some zone too!

They don't have zonebusters Riley and D. Johnson this year. I don't think their outside shooting is as good as last year.

It wasn't that their outside shooting was lacking last night. They actually shot the ball well from outside as Avery, R. Johnson, J. Johnson, Pittman (2), and Rice all knocked down a trey.

The reason they had a problem with McEachern's zone was because nobody was attacking it. They were simply passing the ball around the perimeter and hoping that one of the McEachern players wouldn't rotate out since they were double teaming Pittman down low.

Holmes biggest problem last night was their rebounding. At the end of the game on two separate occasions, McEachern's SHOOTER got the rebound with 3 Holmes players standing on the blocks and nobody from McEachern down there.

Holmes actually pulled to within 3 at 54-51 with 1:12 left in the game and got the ball back after a Ricardo Johnson 3 pointer but a bad pass by Avery out of bounds gave McEachern the ball back and allowed them to seal the game at the line.

Holmes really needs to develop a little more depth too. R. Johnson picked up his 4th foul and went out of the game with the score tied 44-44 after a Pittman dunk. When Johnson returned, McEachern had ran off 7 straight to give them a 51-44 lead.

They have a kid on the bench number 10 that can shoot the lights out.But doesnt get any playing time for some reason.

Because he's only a freshman. I like Christian just as much as any other player on that team, but he isn't ready to contribute in games like this. He still needs to work on a few things defensively. He simply isn't big or strong enough yet. He definetly has the talent, but still needs to be developed a little more.

Give it time. McClendon will see his minutes go up as the season progresses. Hayes didn't play much last night either, for whatever reason.

Although Holmes hit 5 threes, 23.8% isn't going to help, and almost 75% of their attempts were from 3. They don't shoot as well out there this year so far.

While I agree with all the points in the earlier posts your stats are off on the % of 3pt FGs attempted. Only 40% of their FG attempts were from 3pts, (21-51).

Holmes rushed a lot of shots and Coach Henley even said himself that they were too quick with their shots rather than being patient.

When Holmes attacked the rim, McEachern struggled to defend them. The Bulldogs settled for way too many jump shots. They're too streaky and inconsistent from out there to rely on the 3 ball.
