What a career he had and a great year for the Bellevue Tigers. I've spent a great deal of time with Ricky and he wanted nothing more than to play in the state game. Stats were the last thing on his mind and everytime he was interviewed he always praised everyone else rather than himself. What a great kid and his parents should be very proud of the young man's accomplishments and even more the person that they have raised. Great Job!

Nice blog. Well deserved recognition for Buckler. The Bellevue Fans that showed up were just unbelievable. Watching all the fans walk up and hug him after the game was very touching. I think they know he wanted it (going to state) as much for them as he wanted it for himself. The kid just flat out loves football and Bellevue.

I had the privilege of watching this kid play from the stands at Bellevue many times. I could only imagine what it's like to coach him. I did hear that he finished on the list of 12different KHSAA records categories! Pretty impressive career

Sounds like a great player and person.

According to the stats on Cincinnati.com, he had 2852 yards on 387 carries and 42 tds this year in 13 games. I believe they were saying that for his career he has a little over 5200 yards and over 500 career points. Crazy numbers when the games that I was at, everyone in the place knew he was getting the ball and still ended up putting up those kind of numbers.

I thought it was very nice to see the sportsmanship exhibited by both teams after the game. As Buckler finally made his way from the field to the bus there were some heartfelt hugs and encouragement offered by some Beechwood players to Ricky. It was clear the respect the Beechwood players had for him and the Bellevue team. Buckler is one of the toughest players I have ever seen. Size is obviously a big issue on the next level but I have no doubt he can play college ball somewhere if he pursues it.

Very nice posts on here and truly one of the best to play at BHS. He has made many former players very proud as well.

Ricky Buckler is one of the finest kids you will ever meet. I enjoyed watching him play throughout the years, and was sad to see it end Friday. He's had an impressive career, that he will be very proud of for the rest of his life. Congrats to him, and his family.
