Greenwood journies all the way to juggarnaut Henderson County and still pulls off a BIG WIN. Scott County zaps Henry Clay, the fastest team in the state. Meanwhile the lowly Tigers barely survive at home against basically the same Simon Kenton team that Trinity demolished 48-0.

 

Therefore Trinity first, Greenwood second, Scott County third, and St. X. fourth seems like the totally logical way to rank these teams. :notworthy:

How can anyone logically put the Rocks ahead of the Tigers at the moment, especially when they won the head to head match-up earlier this season.

 

I can put Alan's down to simple sandbagging for the Tigers, but the rest of you, really?

Allow me to answer. There are three reasons why I ranked T ahead of X right now:

 

1. It seems that T's QB and passing game have improved over the course of the year, and St. X's pass defense was exposed as a potential team weakness against SK last week. In recent history, T's passing game has been the strength that has separated them from the other top-tier teams in KY.

 

2. In recent years, T has proven they can consistently take care of business in the playoffs. The same cannot be said for the 6A teams still alive in the playoffs.

 

3. St. X has had some injury issues this season, and in reading the posts about St. X on BGP it seems unclear whether these issues have resolved (for example, someone mentioned that St. X's best defensive back was out for the SK game). Given that there probably isn't much that separates T and X right now, every player counts and injuries could be decisive.

 

We'll all know in a couple of weeks!

Finally we have an unbiased Highlands input, which brings verification to what we Tiger supporters have been saying in this thread. We all know that sadly we gag at this time of the year.....:puke:

With that said, the Tigers have all the speed and depth needed to take the title again year. Just ask their coach, they have been the best team the past 10 years. The question remains, can their coaching staff make any adjustments or are they going to come at T (if we both get there) with the same game plan as the first time they met. I can assure you Trinity will mix it up. There's a bit of arrogance about St.X fans. They seem to believe it's their God given right to win the Championship. They have all of the wonderful facilities, all of the alumni money, everything you would ever need to win title after title after title. Trinity on the other hand has beautiful facilities as well and strong alumni but always played the under dog role with a chip on it's shoulder and thrives on it. Our players have heard it all year long how bad they are and how good this X team is. It's a broken record played every year by the media and Tiger fans. All I can say is that if we are both lucky enough to get to Bowling Green, we'll be ready to take it to them. If we fall short, we weren't suppose to beat the mighty Tigers anyway.
