St. Xavier 66 Ryle 17

Why do so many T fans feel the need to get on so many thread and talk smack. The one thing I have learned over the years is that the biggest difference between X and T is that X has a lot more class. JMO :thumb:

Ryle I believe your future looks bright. The Tigers were more focused and more enthusiastic in pregame warmups than I have seen them in the last several games. Players are getting healthy and the offense was clicking.

I enjoyed talking with several Ryle fans and hope, other than the loss, that you enjoyed the experience of playing at St. Xaveir. I look forward to the possible chance in the future of meeting your team again at your house or possibly the final game.

By the way, my two younger sons enjoyed playing tag and football with your young children. When I asked my sons if they saw the good game their brother had they said no that there was a girl playing quarter back in their pick up game and she could really throw and they had to watch her close.

:ohbrother:

I really love high school football and the whole experince that comes with it.:dancingpa

Alan60, My son was at the game. I went to the S.K. vs Manual game. He told me he could not beleave how nice everyone from X was to the Ryle fans. It would be great to see you guys come up to Union and see Ryles new field. Wouldn't it be GREAT if Ryle and Highlands only played once and they both played X.

Good season for Ryle... no shame in losing to the 2009 6A state champs, the score was bad but Ryle will be back next year.

Excuse me but I didn't realize it was classy to disrespect your future opponents!

My mistake!:thumb:

Thanks for the kind comments from those who made the trip south to attend the game last night. We are very proud of our new sports complex and try hard to welcome all visitors to our school (well with the one exception from St. Matthews ) and treat them in a respectful manner. :thumb:

I too enjoyed conversing with the Ryle fans, coaches and players. They all seemed like a first class group. With all the underclassmen that the Raiders have returning next season, Ryle will definitely be an even greater force in the 6A title hunt in 2010. :ylsuper:

Just out of curiousity, prior to the game I posted frequently about the speed of St. X., the likes of which I did not believe Ryle had seen this season. Some responded that they themselves had great speed, and had already played teams (Highlands, Simon Kenton, etc.) who were as fast or faster than St. X.. For those who witnessed the game last night, do you still think that I was possibly exagerating the speed of the Tigers and the major effect it would have on the outcome of our contest?

I think many on BGP are just tired of Trinity supporters feeling the need to insert their school into every thread on the board and are associating this proclivity with a lack of class. A beautiful world does in fact exist in other locations outside of St. Matthews.

Not so fast! You have to play the best two 6A teams in the state to get the title and I seem to remember similar type statements the past few years that ended up tasting a bit like crow. :puke:

I believe, with your track record, X could have the Univ Florida's squad and there would be no guarantee of a state title.

JA is not an X fan he was stating that he thought that X was the better team this year.

I think going into the game a lot of people thought Highlands and S.K. were fast. From the people I've talked to today, that were at the game. X is on a level you don't see in High School.

Thanks for the response, jarhead. Highlands fans were non-believers beforehand, but made similar comments last season after our JV game when they had the opportunity to see the Tigers live. It's funny, but no one believes me until they see it. :thumb:

I haven't seen Sk play this year, but I have seen HHS play and they have team speed that I doubt St X can match. We'll never know as the two do not play each other. But both have played St X of Cincinnati and I think the outcome of the games shows who has the speed and who does not.

Since you have not seen St. X. (as what was the case of other non-believers), why don't we just defer this speed question to the Ryle fans, coaches and players who have seen all three teams (St. X., Highlands, and Simon Kenton) and let them unbiasly decide who is the fastest. :D

I will rank them as far as speed, IMO, and these teams are relatively close.

1. HHS

2. St. X

3. SK

And yes I have seen all 3.

HHS and X use their speed differently. HHS stretches the defense vertically and X stretches the defense horizontally.

SK uses their speed both ways but is not quite as fast overall. They also uses it to be very very aggressive and physical on defense.

Well I will put my neck out to answer this one as I have seen HHS, ST. X and SK play.

SK is the slowest of the three and honestly isn't in the same class of team speed of HHS or Lou St. X. Sorry SK fans and that isn't a knock on your team at all but SK doesn't have the overall team speed of the other two. Yes your QB and RB are as fast as anyone but.......

Lou St. X has more speed in the backfield than does HHS as they have much more depth than does HHS at that position. The St. X fourth RB just blew past the CovCath "D" in our game at X and that surprised me to have that much speed from your fourth RB.

HHS I think has more overall 11vs11 team speed than does St. X but St. X isn't slow when you consider the speed they have from their big men which while HHS guys are fast they don't have the size that St. X has.

Who is the fastest 11vs11 track wise, I give the edge to HHS....

Remember this is just IMO, nothing more nothing less!

They are not the fastest players on their team.

I don't think that this is accurate at all. The timing of when Highlands played Cincy St.X may have a lot to do with it. Too, I think that the score was close with Lou St. X and Cincy St. X going into the 4rth quarter. But the statement about the "outcome of the game" showing "who has team speed and who does not" is not grounded.
