Here are the county schools that do not have football. Does anybody know why they don't or if they ever have?

Here are the county schools that do not have football. Does anybody know why they don't or if they ever have?

I am not sure about the other schools listed, but I would assume that football would intefere with open gym at Elliott County.

I don't think WOlfe County has footbal either.

I added it in there. Must have over looked it.

Dang, I overlooked several. So does anybody know why they dont have football or if they had it in the past? Would be interesting to know.

They should not even be allowed to be called a school without FOOTBALL!:laugh:

I would have definitely been bored if I went to one of them in High School. What do you do in the fall? Run cross country?

Some schools just don't have the male population to compete. Others don't have the local financial backing to support a football program, which is the most expensive of all sports to operate not counting the initial cost of building a football stadium.

I agree, but wonder if any of them had a football team before and then did away with it. I bet 1 or 2 of the schools probably have a football field already!!!

Maybe, but more than likely it was in a time when a hillside served as bleachers and there were no lights. Once schools started consolidating, the focus was on putting together a solid basketball team and constructing a nice gym.
