Jim Schue Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 Big win for the Green Wave, who seem to have righted the ship. Cardinals were down 7-3 going into the fourth quarter, but I was told their defense got a bit tired in the fourth. Nelson's visit next week from North Hardin now becomes critical.
jeb stuart Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 Meade had its way with its running game, and when Nelson put 11 in the box had a couple good passing plays too. Nelson plays with alot of heart, their kids showed great sportsmanship and they never quit. Nelson moved the ball and got close but just couldn't get it in. I am glad to see Meade finally get a couple wins. The early schedule that they played could have caused them to give up but they kept on grinding. Good luck to the Cardinals the rest of the season. Congrads to Meade, you fellas keep up the good work!
Firstn10 Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 The NC defense gave up 21 points but mid way through the 4th qtr the score was 7-3. After Nelson Co fumbled away a Meade Co punt the air went out of their sail and MC pulled away. Holding NC to no touchdowns is a solid job.

Jim Schue Posted October 17, 2009 Author Posted October 17, 2009 Loser likely misses out on the playoffs, right Jim? Yeah, but it also depends a lot on what happens in the CH-Meade game. If CH loses at Meade, it makes them 1-3. Nelson controls its own destiny, as a win makes them 2-2 and locked in at the No. 3 seed. I think they have an outside shot at a home playoff game if they and CH win, as MC, CH and NC would each have a road win. But I'm not sure what the next tiebreaker would be. If North wins and Central loses, a three-way tie for third occurs, with each NH and NC holding a road win, which would eliminate CH, I think. Greenwood wins the district outright, as only Meade can match them, and G'wood has the H2H.
DragonFire Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 It depends. If North Hardin beats Nelson, and Central Hardin beats Meade County, then North Hardin will make it via the head to head tiebreaker. If Central Hardin loses to Meade County, then there will be a three way tie at 1-3. Central Hardin would make it in the 3rd seed by virtue of their vastly superior tiebreakers, and then it would be close for that #4 spot. Both teams beat Bardstown, that's a wash. North Hardin beat LaRue, which currently has 5 wins, with two games left to play, so may end with 7. Nelson County beat Marion County, which currently has 6 wins, with two games left to play, so may end with 8. Both teams have a game left after they play each other next Friday, with Nelson County playing Bullitt East (which they should win) and North Hardin playing Bryan Station (which they will lose). My gut feeling is if it comes to a three way tiebreaker between Central Hardin, Nelson County, and North Hardin, it will be: 3) Central Hardin 4) Nelson County 5) North Hardin North Hardin should be huge Central Hardin fans next week.

You receive one point for each win of a team you've beaten. So Nelson County beat Marion County, Marion currently has 6 wins, so 6 points. You can count up to four teams, and no wins over teams within the tiebreaker count. So Nelson County will not receive points for beating Central Hardin. Central Hardin has the clear advantage here, and has virtually clinched a playoff spot, even though technically they haven't. Also, Meade cannot match Greenwood. Greenwood finished a perfect 4-0 in the district, and Meade can finish no better than 3-1.

If CH and NC lose, CH would have zero district road wins to the others' one apiece. I think that should trump everything else. Misread Greenwood's schedule. Doh!
Firstn10 Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 Nelson Co and North Hardin have their backs against the wall. I expect a battle next week.

Unless they've changed it, that's not the case.
