bluegrass09 Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 I don't know their schedule, but I know Beechwood's 8th grade team did really well last season and they played in the league with the larger schools.

Yea and they lost 2 of their best players who made a pit stop at Beechwood for that one year and then went back to Lloyd. Not saying they wont be good this year with Nussbaum, Erdman and Maus but those 2 Smith boys had hair on their chest and were phsyical specimens.
The Hulk.......2 Posted November 3, 2009 Posted November 3, 2009 Yea and they lost 2 of their best players who made a pit stop at Beechwood for that one year and then went back to Lloyd. They also added transfer Mitch McKenzie brother of Moeller star Griffin McKenzie.
Qryche11 Posted November 3, 2009 Author Posted November 3, 2009 They also added transfer Mitch McKenzie brother of Moeller star Griffin McKenzie. Oh, does he live in the Beechwood district?
The Hulk.......2 Posted November 3, 2009 Posted November 3, 2009 Oh, does he live in the Beechwood district? Im not sure. I think though:thumb:
Voice of Reason Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 Oh, does he live in the Beechwood district? Yes, he lives in the district. His Dad and older brother (not Griffin) are Beechwood grads.
Qryche11 Posted November 6, 2009 Author Posted November 6, 2009 Yes, he lives in the district. His Dad and older brother (not Griffin) are Beechwood grads. So Griffin goes to MO and this one doesnt. Curious why?
The Hulk.......2 Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 So Griffin goes to MO and this one doesnt. Curious why? Great question! I really don't know.
The Hulk.......2 Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 Beechwoods Freshman Chris Lightner is playing basketball this year. He is a physical body with a average shot.
Qryche11 Posted November 23, 2009 Author Posted November 23, 2009 I am curious if anyone knows the answer to this question but why do the middle school teams play over 30 games a year plus tourney and the Frosh only play 20 games and a tournament?
BredFan Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 I am curious if anyone knows the answer to this question but why do the middle school teams play over 30 games a year plus tourney and the Frosh only play 20 games and a tournament? Because Freshman are restricted by the KHSAA. You can play 23 regular season games, and two tournaments.
kinglouie Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 I am curious if anyone knows the answer to this question but why do the middle school teams play over 30 games a year plus tourney and the Frosh only play 20 games and a tournament? I have always viewed the high number of middle school games an issue. Not nearly enough practice time is available, if the teams play in a bunch of tournaments. If a team does well in these, they can easily get over 50 games, which is too many. They need to spend more time in the gym, practicing, developing more players. I am sure there are a number of kids who would develop into better players if they had more practice time, and less time sitting on the bench in games. Yes, the games help the best players develop, but what about that second tier level of player, the non-starter who doesn't get the minutes in the game?
