Please keep Louis Meadows in your thoughts & prayers. Louis is a great friend to, and can be considered THE authority on, Kentucky Girls Basketball. I am copying the updates from a member of Louis's family. Wishing Louis a speedy recovery & hope to see him home & at court side soon!

On a personal note, Louis was incredibly supportive of my daughter throughout her HS career. He always told her to keep her head up & battle through her injuries. He said she would get where she wanted to go by doing so...Louis obviously knows about that. He is an inspiration to us all.

Tues,10/6

Louis Meadows underwent extensive cancer surgery today Oct.6th, at 12:30 Pm. He was in surgery for roughly six hours. Without going into specific details, the surgery went essentially the way Louis thought and had said that it would. The Doctors also did exploratory surgery and could find no other trace of cancer outside the areas that we already knew about.

We are hopeful that he might be able to retain most of his colon, but will not know for sure until today's surgery heals.

Louis will be in ICU until possibly Friday at Good Samaritan Hospital http://www.trihealth.com/GSH/gsh_index.aspx in Cincinnati.

The doctor seemed extremely pleased at the outcome of today's surgery. I will update as more information becomes available.

Please keep Louis in your thoughts and prayers.

Greetings;

Louis had to undergo another surgery today. Apparently the tubes leading from his kidneys to his Catheter got tangled up with his intestines, making the tubes too short to reach the Catheter. And thereby creating a renal leakage into his system. This was not good. So the Doctors had to go back in and straighten out the intestines to allow the tubes to reach their objective.

I have to say that I was concerned there for awhile. I've heard horror stories about Renal Shock and didn't want to go there.

His sister(Pat) was returning to Cincinnati anyway to see him this afternoon. She just left a few hours early due to the crisis. Anyway, it all appeared resolved by early afternoon

Right now, Louis is still heavily sedated in ICU until tomorrow at some time.

Hopefully tonight and tomorrow are much less eventful.

Again, please keep Louis in your thoughts and Prayers

Thurs, 10/8

Greetings;

I just got home from seeing Louis in the hospital. And doing so, something occurred to me that I need to pass on to all...

Louis has always kept very strange hours compared to most of us. It's not unusual for him to go to bed at 3 or 4 PM and sleep till midnight. I am certain that he is having difficulties with this sleep habit being in the hospital. It's hard enough for those of us who maintain normal hours staying in the hospital.

So, if you could, if anyone plans on visiting or calling him, I would suggest doing it early in the day, keeping it brief, and respecting his habits.

Unfortunately tonight I was guilty of committing the cardinal sin which I mention. I'm going to try not to let it happen again.

As to my visit;

He is still in ICU, looks rather frail and tired. They expect him to be there for at least a week and probably a bit more. Of course he's not on solid foods or even liquids as of yet. He's had a lot of work done. I will keep you posted as things further progress.

FYI to all, Louis's cousin is posting these updates on Louis's newsletter site if you would like to check for future updates. I didn't want to post the link without moderator approval just in case it was against the rules.

Greetings once more.

First of all, I want to deeply thank those who I've heard from . I am saving those messages to forward to Louis once he gets home.

I visited Louis again tonight, but he was sleeping as well he should.

I did get to talk to his nurse. She told me that he was able to sit in a chair briefly this afternoon. I told her about Louis' sleep habits.

I believe that Frame of Mind is so very important at a time like this.

It would be wonderful if Louis could hear from some of you at

Glad to hear he is doing better. I enjoy his emails on girls basketball, it amazes me how he is able to keep up with so much across the state.

Greetings;

I apologize for being "Out of the loop" the last few days.

Apparently Louis is out of the Hospital as of Wednesday night. He's staying with his close friend Juanita once again. I don't know where we'd be without this Angel.

I have been out of contact since Saturday other than updates from family. So I hope to catch up with more information tomorrow.

Until then, keep Louis in your thoughts and Prayers

Greetings;

First of all, I want to thank all of you who have responded to these updates.

It's great to see that so many of you care so much. I thank you.

So far as an update; There really isnt much to add from the last update except that I visited Louis and Juanita on Sunday morning.

Louis is trying to regain his strength. He's eating solid foods in small doses.

He expects to return to his own home on the 25th.

All of this is pretty self-explanatory, but I thought I'd better send out one last update.

Keep Louis in your thoughts and prayers
