December 4, 200916 yr Author Oh, and for anybody looking to "pick up a habit" here's a pretty decent article about the general how's and where's of smallmouth fishing in Kentucky streams: http://www.kdfwr.state.ky.us/pdf/smb.pdf (Personal opinion, but I think stream fishing beats the pants off of lake fishing.) :thumb: Absolutely, Have you ever tried Elkhorn Creek? It is full of smallies. My favorite place to fish.
December 5, 200916 yr For those of you who have been in this thread, I would add the following: On reservoirs this time of year, get a big floating light that you can hang over the side of your pontoon/bass boat. Set up in the harbor around some houseboats and structure and drop that bad boy right about dark. Wait for a while. Say warm. When the shad come up, drop white 1/16 oz flies just below the shad on lightweight tackle and have fun!

I haven't heard anything but good things about it. I used to have a contractor who did a good bit of work for me who swore by it, but I've never been...mostly because I'm not sure where to go.

My favorite spot used to be off Colston Lane in Franklin Co. but the landowners won't let you down there now. Some idiots started camping out and leaving trash and stuff.:madman: Try the area behind Elkhorn Campground on Georgetown Road in Frankfort if you get a chance. Or Stromeyers(sp) Campground on Owenton Rd.(U.S. 127) where Elkhorn feeds into the Kentucky River. Also Canoe Kentucky in Peaks Mill(Franklin Co.) has canoe rental and a great 6 mile deal where they put you in, and you get out back at their place. Great fishing. :thumb:
