While he did mention that aspect in one sentence I don't think his main point was in regards to that one aspect. Based on how he started the conversation I took it as "you can't have reform without a public option." I believe he used the point you reference as a way to ridicule the gentleman for thinking that you can have reform at all without a true public option.

The bottom line is that he is correct - the defeat of this bad legislation is a victory for some more bad people, namely the insurance companies. I don't profess to have answers, but having a look at those folks is a good starting point.

October 7, 200916 yr What Shep said is correct. I don't think its a liberal position. Lost in all the translation is the insidious requirement of forced insurance purchase. The problem as I see it is that you can't eliminate pre-existing condition exclusions unless you also have mandatory coverage. I don't like mandatory purchase but I do think that the two have to go together.

O'Reilly essentially splits his time between Republican and Democratic supporters. Alan Colmes, Bob Beckel, Leslie Marshall, Lamont Hill, Juan Williams, Lanny Davis, and one of the hot blondes :lol: that Fox has are regulars on the show. I do not watch much else on Fox News. I will flip over in the mornings to Fox and Friends, but that is as far right of a show as you can get. Shep is good though.
