Yeah, what he said....:idunno:

Should be and exciting year for several 12th region team, with West Jessamine,McCreary Central, and Wayne Co. figuring to be the best teams. There is also some talent in the region. Jarrod Polson from West Jessamine and Aaron Watts are the marquee names and can play with anyone in the state.

I am looking forward to the 12th Region tourney already.

Besides the obvious in West Jessamine and McCreary Central, I think Mercer County will surprise people this year. Their junior class has played together a long time and haven't lost many games along the way. I believe they won the 12th region JV tourney last year as sophomores. Add in Jamel Taylor and who knows what may happen. West Jessamine will have to work hard for a repeat District championship.

Is Southwestern going to turn to their great sophomore class? I remember those boys as 8th graders and they were one of the best teams I watched during the 8th grade and all of middle school.

How good will Somerset be with D.J. Townsend leading the way?

Will Danville improve since they return a lot of quality players, including Jacody Taylor(best player in the 45th District), from last year's 45th District Runner Up?

Will Lincoln County still be as strong without Spurlin and Edginton leading the way. Is Trevor's little brother, Trent, ready to handle the load of being the floor general?

Is Wayne County quietly waiting in the the wings to win the 12th Region? With all of the talk about West Jessamine and McCreary, will Wayne County sneak in and win the Region?

Will Boyle County be better and do the little things to finish out games.....like hit free throws? Can the Rebels silence the haters????? I hope so......

Yep, I am ready for some 12th region basketball.

I like this post, should be an exciting and interesting year in the 12th region. Remove the two front runners and anything can happen.

Cats Paws ranked Casey in the top ten any comments on that?

To bad Danville and Somerset does not play in the regular season. Might make for a exciting All A Classic game. That Advocate Messanger may have put a target on Taylor, while adding fuel to the fire leaving Townsend out of the top ten in region. We may see to point guards put on a scoring clinic. Anyone have any comments on who they will give the edge to defensively.

I don't know a whole lot about Casey County or Rockcastle County. Is there anyone who can shed some insight on Casey County or Rockcastle County?

That would be a good matchup. I have only seen Townsend play a couple of times so I can't give an accurate assessment of how well he plays defense, but I have seen Taylor enough to know that he'll get some steals with his quickness, but he is not a shut down defense type of player. He has Iverson-like defense. Lots of steals, but you can score on him if he doesn't steal it. I am quite sure these two will both put on a scoring clinic.

I'd say they will play in the All "A" during January. Haven't seen brackets, though. The fact that they always play in the All "A" might be why they don't schedule a regular season game.

I just think it is good to get a little friendly chit chatter on the 12th Region, about 5 weeks away from tip off.

Me too, I never saw a Cats Pause preview, so I made my own hoping some 12th region fans would come on here and answer some questions that I know we all have.

I can't wait for the season to start!!!!!!!!!!

I did like your post. There have already been some interesting developments in the 12th region. Especially down around the 48th district, with lost that PC has had. They lost there senior PG for the season, and appear to be without Jenkins for a substantial amount of time.

That 8th grade class at SW is not all together any longer, I think have lost two members of that team. (are they 47th?). That district goes through McCreary, I don't dont beleive Dunagun and company can sneak in and steal it.

Somerset experienced the loss of two guards, a junior to a knee injury during soccer and the freshman (coach's nephew) in a transfer to PC.

Rumors out there that Derek Thacker was not going to play his senior year at Rock.

With tip off right around the corner, still looks like a McCerary V. WJ showdown.

Any other 12th region fans out there but Purple Pride and I.

Last word I heard was Derek will be playing this year. That was about a week ago. You never know though....the kid is trying to get scholarship offers in football and if a college says they want him to concentrate on football and weights for a free ride....:idunno: He is good kid with some options.

What happened there? They were a great team with only 7 players.

Well the Eppersons Twins, Lewis, Marlow, Merrick are still there. They lost Alan Williams, Zack Turpin. I am not sure of the 7th person whom you are referring to. The Eppersons will make them faily solid, and will get the Varsity time this year. Cody is good and consistently improving. People from around the program tell me Justin is getting better. Marlow and Merrick is not really ready to help them at this point. Marlow is pretty much a designated shooter. The loss of Alan Williams probably had the most impact on that group. Lewis is not as dominant down low as he used to be, in the 8th grade. I think Turpin gave it up to concentrate on baseball, and he also is the starting QB on the FB team.
