Garrard County 56 Jackson County 24

Featured Replies

Lions looked solid in a big win over the Generals. Score is a little misleading, as Garrard was up 49-8 late in the 4th. Jackson County put up two late scores. Lots of kids played for Garrard and the JV's played especially well on offense. I think Garrard had 10-15 kids get carries tonight!

Lions move to 3-3 overall, 2-0 in the district. Next week brings a huge challenge with a trip to Somerset.

Also, it was great to meet Mountain Thunder tonight. Great guy who I really enjoyed talking too!:thumb:

Congrats Lions, see you guys next week at the Briar Patch. Should be a good game.

Congratulations to Garrard Co., I saw the highlights and you guys look good.

Great to meet GCHS_UK9 as well!

I thought Garrard came out flat. JCHS drove early, then GCHS called a timeout and got the kids attention. Coach Scenters is doing a great job. I think Carter is doing things the right way at JCHS.

Good crowd, nice field, & everyone at GCHS treated me great! Sets up a very crucial game next week with Somerset & Garrard!

It will take Coach Carter some time. They will need kids coming through there little leauge program to really see a difference. GC is heading in the right direction. Good luck to both teams rest of the season.

Coach Scenters is a good man and doing a great job with GC. They have a lot of weapons but do need to work more on there OL/DL's. Put a good line in front of all those weapons and you would have a very dangerous football team that could possibly still be playing the week of Thanksgiving.

That is a very good point. Garrard is very young on the line and that has been a problem opening holes and stopping the run. It seems like Scenters and staff are playing a ton of kids on the line, trying to find what will work, and the kids have been making more plays the last two weeks. I think it will pay dividends by the end of the regular season.

Agreed. It will take some time, but both coaches in this game are trying to do it the right way!

Definitely. Jackson County's improvement might not necessarily be reflected on the scoreboard, but anyone who watched the last three Garrard/Jackson games can easily see how much better the Generals have gotten.

That is what someone else told me too. I sure hope they can get things turned around. It would be great for their community.

It's going to take awhile. They've got to get some semblance of a little league and middle school program. But if they give Carter time and he sticks with it, then Jackson County can eventually be a solid club.

I agree they have to get several years of little leauge and middle school under the belts in order to get things rolling IMO.

Their program would benefit if they could drop into 2A for football, maybe make the playoffs a couple times. They are a little overmatched with their district right now. I thought, honestly, that Jackson County should have been moved to District 6 with the new alignment, which would have made five teams in District 5 and five in District 6. They would have played with Breathitt, Estill, Powell and Magoffin, which would have made much easier travel and perhaps a touch easier competition.

But they have to play the hand they are dealt and hopefully they will succeed.

Jackson had almost 300 yards on the ground Friday night, looks like they can run the ball.:sssh:

That is impressive.
