To put things into perspective, Trimble wanted it more. Carroll, coaches and players, allowed external influences to play a major role. I don't think we should say Carroll is or isn't good. One thing to factor in is that this truly is only ONE game. It was a good solid win for Trimble and a bad solid loss for Carroll. Please don't let this be the SuperBowl for Carroll County. Cal is coming up and redemption is possible. Put a period on it and MOVE ON!! Live and Learn.

 

Based on the way CAL has been playing so far, if Carroll wants to win that game they are going to have to play beyond themselves.

Thanks for the compliment, but I won't let a shot against our coach ("he was hired to win and hasn't done much of that this year") go unanswered. I also strongly defended Poynter when he was here and I will always consider him a friend, but I feel as though you do him a disservice when you keep bringing up him as a comparision to the current coach.

 

Poynter's team the first year went 3-7. Six games in this year, the Raiders are 2-4. Comparing common opponents from Poynter's first year, the Raiders lost to Carroll Co, Henry Co, Eminence, Owen Co, and Frankfort. They beat Bracken Co. This year the Raiders beat Carroll Co, and has yet to play Bracken Co (a team usually down) or Frankfort (a team that is NEVER down). Compare LAST year to this year - the only current difference is that the Raiders lost to Carroll but beat Owen.

 

What does all of that mean? Not much! Different years yield most teams with different players. You can't compare this year's Raiders with last year's Raiders or any other for that matter. There is no A-11 this year, so they are running a totally new offensive scheme. Our QB and our center/MLB graduated last year, so those in that position this year only had JV experience really.

 

Coach Poynter IS a great coach and he did many, many good things at our school. I keep up with his team at Bracken Co and wish him only the best. However, I believe in Coach Collins and what he is doing with our boys and have every bit as much confidence in him and his program.

 

Sometimes people want to take out their grievances with other situations on here and disguise it. As adults, let's try not to do that. As previously said, it is all about the kids. I'm proud of our boys and have been and always will be in their corner. I'm not just proud of them as a team on the field, but I'm proud of them individually. More than one of them (past and present) know who TB&G is and that she can always be counted on when you need something, big or small.

The year before Poynter took over, there were only TWO seniors, so he, too, was left with players with varsity experience...and perhaps more, since we graduated FIVE last year and some of the players this year (including Adamski - who is having a GREAT season at RB!) only played their freshman year before playing varsity this year.

 

If you want to let bygones be bygones, I won't bring up previous threads and we'll let it rest.

Good post. You are correct. One season game does not make the season, particularly a non-district one. CC can bounce back and make some playoff noise!

Carroll's 1st half team played much better than the team they fielded in the 2nd half. IMO.... Don't know what was going on or why there was a difference. Heard rumors in the stands, don't know if they are true. Had opportunity to see Carroll play a couple times last year and was wondering why Craig or Stewart are not the starting qb's. Both scramble well. Craig is hard to bring down and Stewart threw the ball very well. I looked at this year's passing stats on KHSAA...... Good luck to Carroll on their remaining schedule.
