South Oldham 2009/2010

Featured Replies

What does South Oldham need to do to improve in 2009/2010? What do they need to keep doing to be successful? Remember, please be constructive.

South will again have some of the best spot-shooters in the region, which means that on any given night, they will be able to beat anyone. Casey Jackson is likely headed for an all-region season; the kid's a pure shooter.

The biggest question mark for South continues to be their ability to work the glass. The last two years, their guards have been among their best rebounders.

South has an excellent coaching staff; I was very impressed by how South finished the season last year.

What do other players besides Jackson need to do for this team? Please be specific and constructive.

I feel he is the best coach in the 8th region! Gets the most out of his teams.

maybe the most overlooked team in the state... If coach Simpson is as good as one board poster mentioned.. this is the year....

South was competitive last year but lost a really good player in Kraemer. What makes you think this is the year?

Kraemer was an excellent player, but South showed that they weren't a one-man team when they won the district. Kraemer went out at the end of the third quarter against Oldham in the semis...the game was tied at that point, if I remember correctly.

They then pulled away late - without Kraemer - against a team that has historically had their number. Then - without Kraemer - they blitzed North Oldham in the district final.

This is a veteran team with a lot of good shooters and solid chemistry. They played a tough schedule last year, which will help this year. If they can become more rugged on the boards, I think South can make a lot of noise in the 8th this year.

Can they guard folks?

I saw a couple of 7th region teams beat them by 20 + points this summer.

My feeling is that Coach Simpson's teams are historically poor defensive teams. They are not very physical and do not rebound well.

That's certainly been their weakness in the past - rebounding and the fact they've historically been pushed around a bit.

Out of curiosity, who did you see them play against this summer, and did South have all their players?

I am not positive, but did a player at South Oldham player (Carrithers) recently sign to play for Happy at Georgetown College? If so, congrats are in order.
