I'snt Coach Harris considered the defensive coach? Maybe this situation will improve once he quits trying to coach 2 sports during the same season. Defense is definitely something the Royals will have to improve on to go far into the post season.

Coach Harris is an excellent. Coaching two sports isn't the problem. MC plays a bend but don't break defense which, at times, allows a lot of yards. But, if you've been paying attention, Rowan Co. is the only team to get across the goal line more than twice. Pretty good if you ask me.

According to his post game comments, it doesn't sound like Coach Buchanan is to thrilled with the defensive performance. So there must be a problem somewhere.

You can see Coach Buchanan making the defensive calls during the games. As head coach, I'm sure he has major say in the defensive personnel and the defensive system.

At the time I made the comment, that was fresh in my mind. I could have gone on and on about offense, and special teams as well in the things we are not doing well. In fact, I did talk about how disappointed I was that we were unable to run our offense on a wet field. Coach Ullery and I do the offense together so you can blame us on that one.

 

Since I coach the defensive front also, I signal or call out the front some times.

 

We will play better. Coach Harris is a tremendous football coach and we are fortunate to have him. I would also add that ultimately everything we do reflects back to me- the head coach. He and I, and our entire staff are on the same page and they are doing what I want done to the best of their ability and I am more than happy/pleased with their efforts. I am smart enough to realize we have great assistant coaches on our staff.

 

I try to stay out of this stuff but I thought right now I needed to do this.

 

We(coaches and players) believe we can play better and we are working to do that. But, in the big picture, I am very proud of our kids. Based on how things looked in the offseason, we had no prayer of being as good as we are now because of our attitude. That has completely changed for the better.

 

It's America and we all have the right to voice our opinions, but maybe all of us - fans, players, and coaches can enjoy it a little more when we are fortunate to win and focus on the positives more. And, yes, I am talking about myself as well! :lol:

From an outsiders perspective, I expected Mason County to post bigger margins of victory over the last two games again Rowan and Harrison. The schedule gets weaker from here on out with the possible exception of the game against my Russell Red Devils. We'll see what kind of fight they put up in Maysville this year.

 

I just want to see your Royals get on a roll going into the playoffs because the window of opportunity is apparently wide open for Mason County to go a long way this year. Not only is Mason as good as they've been in a few years, but the other eastern teams are a bit down, such as Russell, Belfry, and Breathitt.

 

As Coach Calipari says, "the path is greater than the prize", so I'm sure you should savor each and every victory along the way, but expectations are a bit higher for Mason County this year, so us amateur pontificators will throw in our two cents, whether it be wrong or right. Good luck to Mason County the remainder of the year.

As Michael J. Fox said, "I am careful not to confuse excellence with perfection. Excellence, I can reach for; perfection is God's business."

Mason County has a very good football team and program. They have good players and a good coaching staff.
