What does Scott County need to do to improve in 2009/2010? What do they need to keep doing to be successful? Remember, please be constructive.

As long as the Cardinals can stay on the same page, I'd consider them and Holmes to be 1a and 1b in the state.

Will be ranked in top 2 all year! Still have to play in one of the top regions to get out so it won't be a cakewalk to Rupp.

 

Only teams with possibly more talent are Holmes and Eastern but Scott Co. has a lot of seniors, as does Holmes, which would give those two the advantage over Eastern.

They should run over the other 11th Region teams. They have had the luxury of drawing top talent from around the state. They have great community support. Are well funded specifically with the Toyota raffle fundraiser, as they have many other schools raising money for them in KY and other states. Scott Co has a population of more than 40,000 with only one high school, yet they have only won region once since joining the 11th. Lex Cath has won two years straight, will this be the year SC finally returns to Rupp?

Scott Co. will be very good again. Everyone knows about Jackson, Guyn, and Euton. All 3 will be very good seniors. The interesting thing will be how good Manning and Ivey are this year. That is 2 very good sophomores. Losing a tough game like they did last year I would imagine they will be very motivated headed into this season. They will have to replace Phares, but I guess they already have a head start with his injury at the end of the year last year. (BTW, does anyone know how he is doing?)

You're right, on paper Scott County should run over 11th region teams. They were also the favorite last year though, and we saw what happened. I know a lot of that had to do with Phares' injury, but they were still the favorite. I would think this is finally the year Scott County lives up to the hype and plays deep in the state tourney.

I heard his rehab is going well, and that he should be cleared by the doctor to play soon although he will probably be a redshirt this season. I also heard he has added strength.

The year after the state title they were not favored at all, and last year they lost on last second free throws when the team leader was lost the day before. If Phares was lost in the game before, you see SC at Rupp last year. Its hard to change things in 1 day. I wouldn't say that they will run over teams this year, but they will be favored in almost every game this year. Everyone in the 11th does not like SC and they always get everyones best game.

Scott Co will be on top again. They are in a tough region and if they can get through it they could possibly make a big run at the state title.

Holmes and Lou. Eastern are 2 teams that are extremely talented as well that I have seen. Talent wise I think those 3 are at the top.

Bottom line is they are not winning Region championships at the pace they were when they were in the 8th. When they moved to the 11th I got the impression from many of the posters on this site that they would continue playing in Rupp year in year out.

I agree with you, as I said it was a big blow to SC. I am not arguing that it didn't hurt SC. I come from a family that has three generations that played ball in the 11th region. From what I have witnessed over the years, anything can happen come tournament time in the 11th region.
