Ryle 42 Dixie Heights 28

C'mon OldGuy. I could not move 2 feet without running into a Dixie Student. They were everywhere. They just don't sit and do organized cheers. There were 3 times the number of Dixie students than are at any CovCath game.

I was sitting on the Ryle side and the entire right side of the Dixie stands looked mighty empty from where I was sitting! Coming to the game and coming to the game to watch and cheer your team on are too different things completely.

If you're looking from that side of the field, the far left, lower section is the student section. The far right is usually empty, or filled with the visitors' fans.

I agree. But you implied they were not there. They were not all there to watch the game, but they were there in force.

Yes. He injured his knee. He was on crutches the 2nd half.

I heard from a student with a contact on the field it was a sprained MCL. Too bad as the Zumdick family has had to endure more knee injuries than any family in NKY.

Congrats to Ryle for first victory at Dixie in a long time! I believe it will make for a great JV game to watch at Ryle! BTW... How about some padding at the back of the endzones! #18 for Ryle about hurt himself when he scored and a WR for Dixie did a belly flop on straight concrete... OUCH!! Great Game!

I have a question - and I'm certainly not claiming it was done intentionally at all - but are bands allowed to play while the other team's offense has the ball? Should they be allowed?

A lady behind me said the same thing. However, I don't know how she, or anyone else, knows that it's only a sprain without a MRI. Hopefully it is only a sprain, because he's needed on both sides of the ball.

That's what you get when you have a track around the field. It's not a good surface to land on, that's for sure.

One thing I noticed with Ryle last night, that I don't recall ever seeing in a football game is that their whole line flip-flops. They don't have a set left and right guard and left and right tackle. Depending on the play call, they switch to the other side. I've never seen that before.

^ Like Boone in the past, strong side weak side.

The one thing I was wondering about this game was why the lights were turned on so late? Toward the end of the first half the sun had already set and it was 'twilight' and each team had to play 'in the dark' so-to-speak where the available light was reduced to the point that it had to affect play, making it harder to gauge depth perception on a pass (mainly for a receiver) and for the defense to clearly see what was going on with handoffs, etc.

To save a buck on the electric bill? :idunno:

My wife and I thought the exact same thing. Very strange.

This time of year, I'd have guessed the lights would have come on right at kickoff, even for a 7 p.m. start. Curious.

If it was to save a few bucks, I'm relatively sure the school and/or district could easily cut in a few other places, but that's for another thread.
