They have every intention of keeping him, but if they can't get him to stay long term then they should trade him. Also, the trade of Kazmir wasn't solely for Crawford, it was for the whole core of players/pitchers on the team.

Losing Crawford to free agency would also net them two first-round draft picks, and as long as the Rays are trying to win next year, Crawford fits into their plans. Hanson was pitching a 5 hit, complete game shutout into the 9th and Cox replaces him in the bottom of the 9th with Soriano. The bases are now loaded with 1 out for Tejada. I can't stand Bobby Cox sometimes.
