Greatest Guitar Performance of All Time

Featured Replies

For his style of play, Stevie Ray is the best at his type of music.

True, but his style of music isn't what this thread is about. Its about the best live performer, and a huge part of that IMO is being a master at improvisation, and pouring your heart and soul into what you're playing. They have to put on a whole different experience that can't be had by listening to one of their albums.

Now I'm not old enough to have had the chance to see him live, but from watching many live performances of his, and many live performances of other great guitarists, there is no show like a SRV show.

A few that haven't been mentioned that need to be in any thread on great guitar playing: Keith Richards, Jerry Garcia, Luther Dickinson, Warren Haynes, Jack White, Duane Allman, Trey Anastasio, Tom Morello, John Frusciante. And Hendrix again because he was the best.

I will beat Jim to the punch on this one. Angus Young?

Not saying he is technically the best, I'm saying he is a great performer.

Also I forgot Roy Clark. He is incredible with an auduience and can flat play.
