August 28, 200917 yr I think public assistance, though meant to help out temporarialy, has become a way of life for generations of some people. Too many welfare moms having baby after baby and getting a better check with each one. Too many lazy young men with "bad backs", working hard for that disability check. We, as a nation do not do enough to help out those struggling to work yet not making ends meet. Too busy supporting those who do not try at all. You've nailed it. :thumb: And to go along with "bad backs", in my area one can add "bad nerves" to the list.

I’m not sure that I’m 100% behind paddling in schools, but I do believe that teachers have their hands tied when it comes to discipline and if parents were doing their jobs, I’ll bet many of the discipline problems in the schools would go away. Even when teachers do discipline children the parents often complain to the principle that little Johnny is being picked on because Johnny comes home and gives his side of the story that of course usually starts with “it’s not my fault”. Of course there are some abusive teachers that should not be in the classroom and the more we see news stories about a few “bad” teachers the more all teachers suffer. The bottom line is that if children were taught discipline at home we wouldn’t have nearly the issues we have at school. Ironically this doesn't stop at a young age. I talked to two guys I grew up with that are cops and they spend the majority of their time dealing with the same families in trouble over and over. Our jail system is broken too!
August 28, 200917 yr So my thing is if you talk to the majority of the people they feel this way. Why is it we all feel this way but nothing is done about it? I'll be the first to say I don't really know how to get things changed. I here call your legislators but I guess the voice down deep says it doesn't matter they aren't going to change it.
