A Tribe Called Quest- The Low End Theory and Midnight Marauders albums(both classic albums that you can just put in and let them play.)

 

Pharcyde-Passin' Me By, Pack the Pipe, Labcabincalifornia album(Not many peoplel iked this album, but I loved it.)

 

Common-Can I Borrow A Dollar and Resurrection albums(his first 2 albums), The B**** In Yoo(Ice Cube diss)

The Alkaholiks-21 and Under and Coast II Coast albums(I miss these guys, always underrated and under appreciated)

 

Outkast-Southernplaylisticadillacmuzik(the whole album, the one that got them started)-" all the playas came....from far and wide.....wearing afros and braids.....

 

Above the Rim and Murda Was the Case Soundtracks-Easily the best 2 soundtracks for movies ever made......both produced by Death Row.

 

 

Ice Cube-pretty much every song he wrote.

 

 

Tupac Shakur-every song he every made. He truly is missed.

 

 

 

I could go on and on. I call the time from 1992-1997 The Golden Era of rap/hip hop. After Tupac and Biggie died, the heart and soul of rap/hip hop went with them. The music has never been the same since.

 

 

Another quick Death Row fact......had Death Row been able to avoid conflict and stay on top of the rap game when they produced some of the best rap music ever, they'd have Dr. Dre, Snoop, Tha Dogg Pound, Eminem, 50 Cent, The Game, and possibly even NaS on their label roster right now. How's that for a record label?

I saw somebody mention it in one of the above posts but under a different name, but I have to agree, Deep Cover by Snoop and Dre is a classic.

 

I still cannot come up with a good list because there is just way too many good raps to name. Mid-Late 90's is when Rap was Rap and there was a lot of fire spit during that time period. Now everything just seems so commercialized. Every year you get a handful of one time wonder rappers who are the hottest thing going for a week, end up on a NOW cd, then you never hear from them again. There needs to be a resurgence in RAP.

 

No doubt. I miss 90's rap/hip hop.

I was a Wu fan even after I had all but abandoned hip-hop, and remain so to this day.
