NHS BIG DADDY Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 Seems that Carwin may not fight Cain Velasquez after all and go straight to a title shot against Brock at 106 in November. They have both agreed to fight but nothing is signed yet. Cain will still fight at 104 but a new opponent hasn't been named yet. http://mmajunkie.com/news/15921/brock-lesnar-and-shane-carwin-in-discussions-to-meet-at-ufc-106-in-las-vegas.mma Been wanting this fight, but they are my 2 favorite HW's and not sure which one I want to win.
halfback20 Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 I am a huge Shane Carwin fan. He's a pretty nice guy so I'd love to see him knock Lesnar out cold...I doubt that will happen though.
tenaciousD Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 ^ I'm with you on that...Carwin just seems like a very likable guy
GrizzlyAdams Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 Who would be possible opponents for Cain Velasquez?

Captain W F Call Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 I am looking forward to this fight. 2 outstanding wrestlers usually means a stand up war. I look for a early knockout in this one. Brock in the first by TKO.

UKMustangFan Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 Lesnar should win easily IMO. I'm not much of a MMA fan, but that would change if they had more guys like Lesnar fighting....

It won't be easy for Lesnar by any means. Carwin is a better wrestler than Mir, so it'll be a little more difficult to take him down. And Carwin has concrete blocks for fists. He hasn't been out of the first round in his career yet, because he ends his fights very fast. Lesnar won't have much of a size advantage on Carwin, and they both have punching power. If they stand...someone is going to go down quick IMO. If Brock decides to take it to the ground, it might take some work but he'll likely eventually get it. If he gets Carwin down and holds him down he could win with some big ground and pound. I guess it depends on how much better Brocks wrestling is over Carwins. If Carwin can stop the takedown, I think he's got a shot.

Carwin doesn't have any huge wins, but he did beat a good fighter in Gabriel Gonzaga via KO in the 1st round. He's 11-0 with 6 TKO's and 5 submissions. Personally I think he should have fought Velasquez (his original fight) to determine the #1 contender. I don't think he's 100% ready for a shot...but he's HUGE and has very heavy hands so he could win the fight.
