July 20, 200917 yr Author I spoke with Charlie Hawkins (NK Wildcats coach) and he was extreamly happy with 8th place at nationals. He also said he would be happy when the Wildcats get back together in a month or two. Looks like this Tarheel experiment is over. Congrats to all the boys, they desearve it.:thumb:
July 20, 200917 yr Dunning played great, he is a terriffic point guard. He plays very hard and will be an outstanding player in high school. Definitely a player to remember. Andrew Taylor from Corbin also played with the Bulldogs. He might be the best 3rd grader in the eastern half of the state. He was very impressive. Those two along with John Davis made the Bulldogs a very impressive team this week, finishing 9th in the D2 nationals. Davis averaged about 18 PPG, Taylor about 15 PPG, and Dunning about 10 PPG while running the show and playing great defense. I watched the Tarheels today agaist the Hoyas and they are a very talented team. They have a shot to finish in the top 5 in my opinion. They have a very tough game agaist DC Assalt tomarrow. Good luck guys. Is he the son of David Taylor?
July 20, 200917 yr We had alot of out of state teams stop by the Coliseum and Craft Center. Met some very nice people.

I would not be so quick to give up on a group of kids that just finished 8th in the country vs. the "best of the best". Trust me, there will be a 5th grade Tar Heel team next year. Additionally, regardless of what teams these boys played for previously, they obviously had some excellent coaching from McNeil to come together as one unit and find a way reel off some victories in a National tournament.

Just know what Charlie told me. Wasn't trying to cause trouble.
July 20, 200917 yr Just know what Charlie told me. Wasn't trying to cause trouble. No, didn't take it that way. All these boys played hard and I would hope that most if not all of them would want to go represent KY again next year after finishing so well. Pouncy's coming back strong with the 13U's finishing 8th as well and his 9U's are a scrappy bunch too.
July 21, 200917 yr Yes, Andrew Taylor is David Taylor's son and he will be a 13th region star one day.
