I think it's time for old Bobby Cox to retire...

Why?

Why?

His style is from a different generation and a lot of what used to work doesn't anymore. It shows on the field as well. He is still a great manager but there comes a point for every club to ponder whether or not it's time for the manager to retire and this is that time for the Braves.

I do not want Terry Pendelton as the Braves next manager either.

Why?

He makes some bone head decisions IMO.

More of just an older style of doing things and trying to do them with this generation of players. They have different attitudes and are a lot different, and he never adapted to today's game.

Yet most players voted they would rather play for him over any other manager. I don't buy that excuse.

Fire him because he no longer has Smoltz, Maddux, Glavine and Avery.

Of course players want to play for him..He's a players manager, he never bad mouths anyone and he always treats his players with respect. That's why many want to play for him.

He can still manage, don't get me wrong, but it's no where near that caliber of what it used to be. Sometimes he just has too much confidence in some players that have repeatedly let him down. And some of his pitching changes don't make sense. Something has changed with the way he manages.

He did fine when Glavine, Maddux, and Avery left. He's a great manager and a great person but at some point it's time to retire. His passion and love for the game is still strong though and that's why he's still there.

It's a lot harder when you can't leave Maddux, Smoltz, and Glavine out there for 8 or 9 innings.

Could that have hid his shortcomings over the years?

That trio could hide a lot of shortcomings for any team, but when a team wins 14 consecutive division championships, the manager is doing something right.
