East Kentucky Seniors All Stars 6 West Kentucky Seniors All Stars 5

(8 innings)

On a beautiful day for a baseball game, the East Seniors went up against the West Seniors at Cliff Hagan Stadium in Lexington, Ky this Father's Day Sunday.

I was most impressed with Rockcastle County Perkins who started for the East today the young man can indeed pitch.

Maile proved today why he was choosen Mr. Baseball as the rocket he hit out of the park today was a shot and easily cleared the fence going out at around the 380 mark. I knew it was gone the moment the ball left the bat.

Thanks to all the Seniors for an outstanding day at the Ball Park. I got to talk and meet a lot of new folks from as far away as Calloway County and as close to home as the Newport Central Catholic Baseball coach and of course good freind in the Mailes, Murrays and Conners Familes.

Thanks to all of you for a another great high school baseball season and Theoldguy hopes to be around next year for another outstanding season of Kentucky High School Baseball version 2010!

Thanks for all that info TOG.

You are more than welcome!

There was another East Sr. vs West Sr. game, but it was Fathers Day and even though my daughter isn't even in town, (still working down on the farm in Southern Illinois) the Boss requested me to be home by 5:30 or so for dinner, and when she request, well I was home by around 5:40pm. :thumb:

Who made the the two E5's for the east. And did I read the Roster right, That there were 5 players for the 13th region and 3 of them from Bell County? 13th Region must have been loaded this year.

Sorry, not sure! I do however know it wasn't Murray or Connor, as I know both of them very well.

Except for the pitcher they never told you (the PA Announcer that is) who was on first, second and so on and they (meaning the players) moved around from inning to inning so much, it was impossible to know for sure who earned the errors. I personally wouldn't want to put an E on a player who I wasn't 100% sure who he was!

The Bell County coaches were the men who were in charge of the East squad and the PRP coaches handled the West and from what I was told they (the coaches) are allowed to fill out their roster so to have enough players.

The East had 23 players on their roster, while the West had only 17 players on theirs.

The information I posted was from the 2009 KHSBCA All-Stars Seniors Roster they handed out at the gate as you entered.

BTW I only count 2 from Bell County?

Overbay: Bell County

Slusher: Bell County

I seen it on the 2009 KHSBCA All-Stars Seniors Roster on their web site. Adam Overbay Bell County, Spencer Greer Bell County,Robby Slusher Bell County. Maybe one of them didnt get in.

On the 2009 KHSBCA ALL-Star East Roster on my desk in front of me, the Greer young man name is not listed, and thus did not play!

On the Schedule of Events that was also handed out at the gate, the Greer young man name is indeed on the Senior East list, however I must tell you that Hunter Jones of Bellevue a "Junior" is on that list also, so it isn't very accurate, at least to me.

BTW Theoldguy was just wondering why Luke Maile was give a uniform shirt with the #18 to wear! Embree of Danville also worn the #18 on his shirt. Could it be the company that did the uniforms shirts screwed up and didn't print a #1 shirt? I thought Mr. Baseball wore the #1 on his back for the All Star game?

Perkins is the real deal!I think the best pitcher in the state!Should have a great career at WKU.

While he is the real deal and indeed he did impress me, the following two pitchers who I saw also this season were more (IMO) impressive.

Thompson who was only a junior at Franklin County and Isler of CovCath (who will be attending the University Cincinnati and the Big East), were IMO even better than Perkins. Isler was 12-0 this season pitching for CovCath and Thompson, well the kid was just overpowering.

Still puzzles me that kids who make the first team All State, don't get chosen to attend this All Start game by their local coaches. Oh well....See Sam Kidd of Ohio County also.

What did woody do at the plate? He is the senior catcher from South Laurel! Do you have any info on the Junior All-Star game?

The 13th was not that strong this year. Possibly the most talented player in the region did not get an invite.

You know it's strange to not see one single article in the CJ, Lex HL or even in the NKy.com about the State All Star game.

I guess BGP's is the place to go, if you want the news about HS sports in Kentucky.

Tog you refer to the Big East as a baseball mecca! I think you may be confused between college baseball and football which does have conferences that are a part of the BCS.College baseball doesn't!

CS Fullerton,UC Irvine,Coastal Carolina,Witchita State,Elon,Oral Roberts,Rice and East Carolina are all college baseball powerhouses every year. The BCS has nothing to do with baseball or the quality of the baseball programs!WKU was in the 64 team field and Coach Finnwood has a quality program!Louisville was the only team from the Big East to make the 64 team field.

As for Perkins he was a kid that was highly recruited and signed early with WKU and also recieved alot of attention from pro scouts.Probably a 100% kid that will have an impact on their starting rotation as a freshman next year.IMO he is the best pitcher in the state!
