As far as I know there was nothing said about it at the game!

I have time and time again said Tri Players of the year, but Ryan Ernst of the NKy.com has told me that they (he) will not vote for a Tri POY of the year.

 

Really a shame as each player Darner, Isler and Maile depend on each other so much, for the benefit of each other and their team. While each would be a great player no matter who they play for, playing together as a team, makes each even better.

 

 

CovCath has had a tremendous year and looking back it has been a few years in the making.

Crazy thing to me is, although he's obviously a stud athlete, he's really not a "man" yet. Think what he's going to do by the time he hits his soph & junior seasons in college.

You're wrong. The hit by smith to siemer was indeed an error and I'm fairly certain cch book had it that way as did krumps based on his reaction. Siemer is an excellent second baseman but that hit off his glove.

 

Oscar is right on this one. There is no way you can score that a hit. Siemer is an excellent second baseman who commits very few errors but this one was definately an error. It was hit a couple feet to his right and it wasn't like he couldn't get to it. He was there in plenty of time to get his body in front, it just so happen to hit off his glove and roll into the outfield.

Isler is the POY. There is no reason he shouldn't be. He is 11 and 0. Don't get me wrong this is a very good ball club but they wouldn't be 31-3-1 without him. Also, as most baseball fans know your not going to win to many games without good pitching. He is as dominant as they come.

 

Not only has Isler lead Northern Kentucky in pitching but he is also one of the top hitters in the region. I can recall a very close game, ryle maybe, where Isler only gave up one run on the mound and hit in 2 RBI's to win 2 to 1.

 

When he is on the mound I would take CCH over any team in the state.

Great game by the Colonels, especially Isler and Maile. Congrats to the team.

 

I've seen many CCH games this year, and I would be hard-pressed to pick

the team MVP, much less POY or Mr. Baseball. Stay tuned, all three are

money, and now's when it counts. If I had to pick right now; it's Isler for 9th

region POY, and Luke as Mr. Baseball. Luke is the best player in the state,

and Ice has had a great year in all aspects. Don't discount what a great defensive 1B he is. Darner is one of the best clutch hitters around, but the other two are slightly ahead for POY.

 

Regarding the hit vs. error posts; I'll agree with TOG, but I think based on the standards that Siemer has set, he would probably agree with Oscar. I've never seen a 2B with that kind of range, and very good hands.

I posted Isler's stats in another thread and they are ridiculous... The POY goes to the best all around player for this year, not a whole high school career, and Isler is either at the top or near the top in every pitching and hitting category. Maile has been great his whole career and very good this year, but this year Isler has meant more to CovCath than Maile.

 

Bingo. It is the best all around for this year, 2009. Maile has had a great high school career, but his numbers are not as strong as the previous 3 years. Isler is 11-0 and produced at the plate also. Darner, Isler, and Maile are all important parts of a very good team, but Isler has been dominant on the mound + high in numbers in hitting categories. Best all around player for 2009.

If you think Isler is the best all around player for 2009, then he is Mr. Baseball, correct? Or is Mr. Baseball a cumulative award? I'm not sure, just asking. TOG says Ernst would not vote for Tri POY and I agree that may be too much but I now believe Maile and Isler will be co-POY. Maile overtook Darner in the last couple of weeks. Even if Isler deserves it by himself I don't see anyway Maile doesn't get part of it.
