Big Daddy Bear Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 Great win and momentum builder for the Lady Bears as they head towards District play. A big win over a perenial 10th Region powerhouse. First win against Clark since the fast pitch program started at BC is what I'm told. Sorry, no other stats at this time. Congrats to Lady bears and Coach Persinger.
polarbear1994 Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 I think this solidifies the fact the Lady Bears are a serious contender for a regional title.
Randy Parker Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 I think this solidifies the fact the Lady Bears are a serious contender for a regional title. Agreed, but at the same time, it's wide open too. Seems to me there are 5-7 teams that have a legitimate shot at winning it. Montgomery would probably be the slight favorite. Then you have Clark, Harrison, Bracken, Bourbon, and Brossart. Having said that, the 40th district has historically dominated the 10th region. I believe I'm right in saying that over the last ten years, only one non-40th district team represented the 10th in the state tourney (Brossart). And if someone like Harrison, Bracken, or Brossart wants to win it, they'll likely have to beat one--if not two--of the 40th district's teams. But it certainly was a big win for BC. Congrats to the ladies!
Randy Parker Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 Kudos to Chuck Hamilton of the Ledger-Independent for covering the game. :thumb: http://www.maysville-online.com/articles/2009/05/13/sports/doc4a0a31db9e105821521288.txt The best part of the article was about the BC fan (and booster President) who got tossed (though the name in the article is not entirely accurate).

All Blue Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 So who got tossed, was it Ernie Haight or Raymond Meyers?

A non-40th district team has won the 10th region only twice in fastpitch history, Harrison Co. in 1995 and Bishop Brossart in 2002......and both 40th district teams have been in the championship game for the past five years.

All In Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 I think this solidifies the fact the Lady Bears are a serious contender for a regional title. Just a wake up call for the Lady Cards this late in the season. Would suspect a rematch might not be so close. Don't forget the Lady Bears were 2 and done in the All A, just last weekend. Am assuming that Clark County is better than those A schools. A nice win for the Lady Bears, but don't overlook St. Pat. or Mason County in the district.
irishfan Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Congrats to the Lady Bears and Crawford on her winning RBI. Good luck next week.
Big Daddy Bear Posted May 15, 2009 Author Posted May 15, 2009 So who got tossed, was it Ernie Haight or Raymond Meyers? All in the company you keep at a ballgame.lol. Quickest way there is to get ran off !

A nice win for the Lady Bears, but don't overlook St. Pat. or Mason County in the district. Not so sure a rematch would result in anything all that different. Bracken played Montgomery extremely close on two occasions--taking them to 10 innings in one match-up. And Montgomery & Clark have played each other tight since forever--1-0 MC win recently. And the All A had some really solid teams. BC had late inning leads in both games they lost. Not saying the All A teams are better than Clark, but they're much closer than in the past. And Clark has a tough district foe in Bourbon Co., who is playing about as well as anyone in the 10th right now. This week alone, they've beaten Harrison & Bracken. I think the 10th is as balanced as it has ever been. Any one of a half-dozen teams could realistically win this thing. I think Montgomery is the favorite (and host of the tourney?), but it is as wide open as it's ever been.
