IMO

Trammel is a point guard (1)

Flesch is a point guard (1)

Barnett is a point guard (1) combo that can shoot play (2) also.

Allen is a (2) guard

Fangman is a (2) guard combo can play small forward/(3) too.

Stauffer (4 or 5)

Hodges (3, 4 or 5)

Stewart (4 or 5)

Vollet (3 or 4)

IMO you can't have your best 2 point guards in the game majority of the time, upsetting balance of the rotation. Trammel and Flesch should sub from each other at the (1). Allen and Fangman should sub for each other at the (2). Hodges, Stauffer, Stewart and Vollet 3 of the four should be on the floor at all times (3) (4) (5). Only exception would be Fangman moving to (3) to allow Barnett some time at the (2). Barnett could get a little work at the (1) too. Remember this is only my opinion and you know everyone has an opinion. IMO if they stuck to this rotation they would win the close ones and keep a balance on the floor.

Nice breakdown. I agree about the guards. I think their best two guards are Trammell and Barnett. Both of those kids are exciting players. I would have the two of them on the floor the majority of the time getting brief blows from Flesch and Allen.

Trammell is by far their best offensive player and ballhandler and Barnett has such a nice shot with a very quick release.

I don't agree with your view of talent or playing time. There is almost and no drop off when subbing in any of these kids in the right positions. They all deserve to be on the floor in the right positions. Many of the close games are lost due to unbalanced floor or tired legs. Unfortunately some kids don't get the same opportunities as others.

You could not possibly be more wrong here. Barnett is a great player, but to say that he is the best guard on the team along with Trammel is wrong. Flesch dominated Gilbert and Smith when he guarded them against the Stars. I also heard that he guarded Josh Forrest better than anyone in the whole state tournament. Not to mention that Flesch put up 14 against the Stars, which was more than any one of their guards, and I was told he put up 18 against the WKY Elite. If you cant admit that he is one of the best 3 or 4 PG's in NKY for his age group, then that sounds like a personal endeavor against the kid. Again, Barnett is a great player, and he deserves his time and he is getting much better from what i have seen. But you sir/ma'am are wrong. This team has 3 really good PG's or 1-2 guard combos!

The two best overall guards the Bulldogs have are Trammel and Flesch. Fangman, Allen, and Barnett have some good intangiables. Whether it is shooting, defense, speed, or rebounding. The overall best player they have is Bobby Stauffer. Hodges is coming on strong and Todd Vollet and Jack Stewart really add depth. Those two are interchangebale at times given the lineup. It is ludacris to think that becasue a person is listed as a point guard or shooting guard or center on a website that you must play them in that fashion with a point, a shooter, a small forward ,a power forward, and a center. That is not how it works. In AAU basketball most of the players can play multiple positions. Players that cannot or have only one specialty are usually not as effective. Will Flesch and Trammel and Barnett play the same position for their high school? Absolutely, but not always in AAU. They will play where they are needed and to their strengths. That is what makes Flesch and Trammel so valuable becasue they have the right combination of scoring, ball handling, and defense.

This is wrong in my opinion. But, I guess as a fan, and not the coach of this team you and I dont know the interworkings of this team. That's why I always say that players play, and coaches coach. It's easy to bash a coach as a parent or fan, I've done it, we all have. You could argue that Kellen Smith could have gotten more time for the Shining Stars against the NKY Bulldogs, but he wasnt his usual self in that game. So what did the coach do, he pulled him out. Im sure not everyone was happy about that, but he did what had to be done.

I really thought that they were making a big mistake not keeping Matt Trammell on the floor more than they did. He is their best player in my opinion and he seemed to sit a lot. They become much easier to guard when he leaves the floor.

Who are the coaches of the Bulldogs? Any coaching experience?

Parent of one of the players coaches and that is just a recipe for disaster at this age. Parents have to realize that when their kids reach a certain age they need to go out and compete for playing time and get what they have earned. You can't just start your own team to showcase your kid and not expect knowledgeable basketball people to see right thru it.

Did Blake Bryan play in this tournament?

Apparently he is the "Man Without a Country" again as he sat this one out after leaving Team Ky.

So does it appear that Bryan does not have a team at all anymore? Does anyone know, was it a personal decision to leave or did Team KY make a decison on that?

I have heard that is part of the reason the Stars - MCcord team broke up.

I agree with you here in regards that you should never start a team to showcase any one players talent. A recipe for disaster absolutely. But to your point, people with basketball knowledge also know a good player when they see one. As a parent, you also have to be realistic about your child's abilities. That's the bottome line.

Flesch is a good player but until he performs at the varsity level over a whole season I am not ready to annoit him as one of the top pg's in Northern Ky. If he dominated Gilbert and Smith over one game good for him. However, if you put up 14 but your team loses by 23???? Do you want to rate him above Smith or Gilbert based on this one game? I prefer to look at their body of work and say they have the edge right now.

Even Trammel his teammate has a better body of work at the moment and I would consider him to to be the better player. Thats not a knock on Flesch it's my opinion.

You realize the biggest problem with Flesch right now isn't that he is not a good player or doesn't have potential it's that he has a couple of posters on here are trying to build his reputation on BGP instead of allowing him to do it on the court. When you play well consistently there are very astute basketball followers on here that will give you your due. Most posters on BGP love high school basketball and love to talk about the kids and that is why it is such a great place to kill some time for us basketball junkies with spiritied debate. However, they also have a BS antenna and if you don't come with facts prepare for the hard line approach.

I hope Flesch plays well and his reputation continues to improve but he has to do it on the court.

I absolutely agree with you. Flesch was hurt last year and will have to prove it this year on the court at the varsity level. But if Im not mistaken, most AAU teams are composed of the best players in the area or surrounding area/states, and Flesch is producing. Doesnt this deserve credit? I didnt put him above Smith or Gilbert, or Trammel, as they are really good players. I'm not blowing Flesch up, Im just saying that this kid deserves some smidgeon of credit. I think Gilbert is a very good player and is one that many NKY kids aspire to model there game after. I really like to watch him play and have seen him several times.

But, if I remember correctly, didnt you just say in an earlier post that Barnett and Trammel were the best 2 guards on that Bulldogs team? I believe you did. So what are your hard facts, or where is this proof and body of work for Barnett? I agree that Barnett is a really good player because of what he has done in AAU and on the basketball floor.

I dont argue about Trammel, the kid has game, no doubt. He can play, and play at a very high level, just as Smith and Gilbert.

And, people can claim to be as "astute" as they would like, you know basketball and/or sports, or you dont.

People that know basketball know that Gilbert, Smith, Trammel, Flesch (and Barnett), are good players. Of course they have to continuously prove it on the floor. Thats the name of the game.

In regards to the 23 point blowout, the Shining Stars did work in that game. They are a very solid team and have some really good players. Zeke Pike was a pleasure to watch, as was T. Brown and N. Pawsett. They are a fun team to watch.

I disagree that Flesch's biggest problem are the posters. Or maybe it is, but not the posters that you were refering too. Where else are you supposed to rep a player than in a basketball forum. He had an unfortunate injury that kept him out of most of the high school season. I am sure there are people out there that can relate. He is balling in AAU. It is great that he gets to paly with good varsity guys like Trammel, Stauffer, and Hodges. They are working to improve their game together. These guys work well together. I will always rep the Bulldogs because I love what they do. If it is BS to you then let your antenae weed it out. Someone may have a different opinion than you and that is the one I want ot hear.

I have to correct you "Perfect Practice" it was not "4pointplay" that mentioned Barnett it was "Nothing but the truth". Now lets get real here "Perfect Practice" and "Hanny Manny" are the only ones pumping up Flesch. No knock on Flesch but let the kid earn it. Its easy to put up garbage points at the end of games that are already decided.:sssh:
