In the Coach Conner Classic

 

With an outstanding effort on the mound today, Patrick Krumme won his sixth straight game of the season and this was also the fifth straight complete game by the CovCath starting pitchers.

 

Highlands 1st, 2nd and 3rd innings: Krumme was indeed awesome as he mowed down HHS one, two, three in all three innings.

 

CovCath 1st: Nutini singles, Siemer sac bunts Nute to second. Maile on the first pitch hits a rocket over near the 380 sign for his seventh of the season, to put CovCath up 2-0. Darner k's but Isler doubles, Holocher gets on via E-9 and Isler scores. Lafever triples to knock in Holocher and Schlagbaum singles to knock in Lafever.

 

So after one complete it is CovCath 5 Highlands 0

 

CovCath scores six runs in their half of the third to make it 11 to 0 after three complete.

 

Highlands 4th: Liggett get HHS first hit of the game a double but he is left there.

 

CovCath scores a single run in the 4th to make it 12-0 after 4 complete.

 

In the Highlands fifth: HHS goes 4-3, walk and then a 5-4-3 DP to end the game.

 

The good: Everybody got to play, Krumme did an outstanding job of pitching while facing only two over the minimum and throwing a complete game shutout. Again the "D" did a great job.

 

The bad and ugly: When you run rule HHS there is no bad or ugly.

I'm no baseball expert, so someone correct me if I'm wrong, but Oliver just left the ball up too much. He had reasonable velocity, but the call came in very straight, and very high. Maile & the boys just pounded him.

 

Now the starting pitcher for Lloyd in the next game didn't have pinpoint accuracy, but he kept the ball down (at least for the first couple innings that I watched), and with what looked like a little late sink action, fared much better.

Oliver may throw a baseball with reasonable velocity but his velocity with a football in his hands is A+++. :thumb:
