That's pretty much how I feel. I used to like them when I was younger with guys like Clemmens, Greenwell, Rice, Yaz etc. I respect their blue collar guys like Variteck etc. I really started disliking them when they started winning the big games. I've never seen more bandwagon fans then them, Pitt Steelers + Pats. I respect the Pats+Steelers too by the way. The two best run franchises in the NFL I'd say especially NE.

 

:thumb: Exactly the way I feel. I liked the "old school" Red Sox as well like you. Yaz, Lynn, Tiant,etc. I also really ws a fan of Garciaparra and thought that the Red Sox upper mangement gave him a raw deal.

I think its worked out pretty well so far. So far Wireman has refused to comment on it this season in spite of calling it a horrible trade over and over--I wonder why he won't give in and say that they did the right thing? Or maybe he still thinks it was a horrible trade. :lol:

That's one reason I like him so much and why I like this version of the Red Sox so much. They've got a team full of grinders that just go out and play hard. Its hard not to like Bay,Ortiz, Youkilis, Pedroia, Varitek, Lowell, Ellsbury, Lester, Beckett, Papelbon and Wakefield. They all play hard all the time and aren't afraid to get dirty. I think that's a big reason for their success the last several years they have great chemistry and not many primadonnas.

 

And Rambler, as a Red Sox fan I've learned never to count out the Yankees, especially in May.

The Red Sox used another huge 6th inning tonight to beat the Rays, who have just owned them so far this season, 7-3. Tampa Bay had a 3-0 lead going into the 6th inning when Boston scored 5 runs before the Rays could record an out, last night it was 12 without an out against the Tribe. Jason Bay hit another homer and drove in 3 more. He's now 2nd in the league in RBIs with 32. The Red Sox are now 17-5 in their last 22 games.

Red Sox vs. Rays getting ready to start on ESPN. The Rays have just killed the Sox so far this season. Boston is 19-12 so far this season but only 3-6 against the Rays. Perhaps Tito should just quit pitching to Longoria under any circumstances.

Big Papi and Jason Bay with back-to-back doubles in the 8th give the Red Sox a 4-3 lead. Bay just continues to tear it up in big spots. He's now hitting .375 in the 7th inning or later. C'mon Wireman, I want you to publicly admit that was a great trade for the Red Sox last season. We all already know it, its okay. Thank goodness Garza couldn't stay in the game, he was exceptionally tough on the Sox again tonight as usual. Hopefully, Papelbon can close the door and give Boston the series win.

What a finish. Papelbon walked Iwamura who moved up to 2nd on a bad pickoff throw. After Bartlett hit a bloop single to put Iwamura on 3rd with no one out Paps just blew away Carlos Pena, BJ Upton and Carl Crawford on strikeouts for his 8th save. The Sox take 2 out of 3 from the Rays and improve to 20-12. Great series win for the Sox who played the whole series without Youkilis. For the week Boston went 5-2 vs. the Yankees, the Indians and the Rays while Youk, Ellsbury, Drew and Pedroia missed time. Hopefully Pedroia, who strained a groin tonight, won't be out long. Now off to the west coast for the last trip out there for the season. The last one didn't go too well, hopefully this one will be better.
