2 games doesn't make you the best of the best, which is how I took the thread. Kobe is a great clutch player, but I don't think he's been in the environment of an elimination game enough to qualify for the discussion yet.

How many times has Beckett held off elimination then?

I know he did 2 seasons ago against the Indians. Who else? I guess it has to be at least 3 times to warrant consideration?

That's my point. And in the spirit of being fair, I'm talking elimination games, so to me that means Game 5 of best of five series as well.

Didn't he against the Rays also?

If I recall correctly, he did it when he was in Florida against the Cubs and then I also believe he did it last season against the Rays in game 6. Not sure if that counts, but they were down 3-2, so I'd say it does.

Well I will have to do some research but I'm still taking Kobe either way.

Just like I'm going Beckett no matter what your research yields...:D

I'd take Brodeur. He's among the best goaltenders of all time.

Because of his 2 or 3 games? When you say Kobe can't be in the mix because he has only been in a few?:idunno:

I'm not sure how many Beckett has been in. I can recall 3 right off the top of my head though. I'm sure I'm forgetting some as well. He's also only been in the postseason 3 times.

He's started 12 post-season games. He's 7-2 with a 2.90 ERA and 3 CG shutouts. He's thrown 87 innings, just under 7 per start, and has given up only 62 hits and walked 20 during that time. He also has 96 K's. Now I know that they all aren't elimination games, and most probably aren't, but there's no denying he's flat-out filthy when the season is on the line.

None of those mean anything according you if you are going to discredit what Kobe has done in the playoffs.

Paul Pierce had some pretty good Game 7's last year in the playoffs, but I'll take Beckett, I hate the guy but you can't deny, he's the definition of clutch in the playoffs.
