April 28, 200917 yr Dunn went 3 for 4 with a walk had a HR and 2 RBI's in a 13-11 loss tonight. For the season his BA is up to .311 with 5 HR and 14 RBI's.
April 28, 200917 yr Nevermind, just realized that I posted the same stats as Super did to start the thread.
April 28, 200917 yr Reds leftfielders: Avg .189, 2 HR, 7 RBI, 9 BB, 18 Ks, 11 Runs, OBP .286, 3 Errors, 0 SBs
April 28, 200917 yr You would have to think we would have at least 2 or more wins with Dunn's numbers.
April 28, 200917 yr You would have to think we would have at least 2 or more wins with Dunn's numbers. The scariest part is that we may have 2 more wins if we had his defense! :eyeonyou:
April 29, 200917 yr Reds leftfielders: Avg .192, 2 HR, 7 RBI, 9 BB, 20 Ks, 11 Runs, OBP .284, 4 Errors, 0 SBs
April 29, 200917 yr You would have to think we would have at least 2 or more wins with Dunn's numbers. Well you have to think they might not have Rhodes, Taveras and Owings if they were paying Dunn's big contract. Personally I'd rather have those three than Dunn.
April 29, 200917 yr Well you have to think they might not have Rhodes, Taveras and Owings if they were paying Dunn's big contract. Personally I'd rather have those three than Dunn. That's not true at all. Rhodes, Taveras, and Owings essentially replaced Affeldt, Patterson, and Fogg on the roster this season. This year's trio is actually cheaper than last season's group and the Reds were able to carry Affeldt, Patterson and Fogg along with Dunn and Griffey's contracts last season. They should have been able to afford Rhodes, Taveras and Owings along with just Dunn's contract just fine. Instead they've got their mishmash in leftfield that has been a disaster in all phases of the game so far. 2008 Affeldt made $3 million, Fogg $400,000 and Patterson $3 million for a total of $6.4 million. 2009 Rhodes makes $2 million, Owings $420,000 and Taveras $2.25 million for a total of $4.67 million. Plus Dunn signed for $5 million less than he made last season.
April 29, 200917 yr Not much of a "homecoming" start to the season for Griffey, with only 3 extra base hits and 3 RBI in 56 AB's. And they continue to bat him in the 3 hole, which I just don't get. He must get it written in his contract that no matter how poorly he hits, he's not allowed to be dropped to the bottom of the order. :sssh:

I hope the best for Dunn, but let's face it. He wasn't/isn't the difference in winning and losing.

But Dunn was out there as a free agent after the season and since the Reds need a power bat desperately right now..........He'd look a lot better than the hodgepodge they currently are trotting out to left field.

I agree, if he would've took the pay cut he would of been nice to have. But at the time of the deal for him, he was making too much and was going to cost even more to keep another year.

Dunn didn't have much interest in returning to Cincinnati. Cincinnati probably didn't have much interest in bringing Dunn back to Cincinnati. I agree that his bat would help....a lot. The Reds payroll increased this year due to the salary increases in Harang, Arroyo, Gonzalez, Cordero, etc.
