It can easily be done.

Honestly, I don't have a problem with what Obama has done with regards to Iran and Chaves...up to this point. He was clear during the election that he would try a different tactic with these guys and he is. I don't think it's fair to expect immediate results.

 

I don't like the fact that he has been overly apologetic (IMO) for our country without calling to attention all the things we have done to help the world. I don't mind admitting we've made mistakes, but I think that has to be balanced with our good works. I also think he should have given a stronger reply to Ortega.

 

To this point, I'm willing to wait and see. If his new nicer policy doesn't make any headway, then at some point, he's going to have to drop the hammer on these countries. When or if it gets there, I'll judge him on how he responds.

 

But, for now, he's the president. He has a plan. And, I'm willing to give him a little time to implement it and see what the results are. Hopefully, he'll make it clear that he's willing to talk to them, but there are some expectations that they have to meet as well.

The problem with condemning Ahmadinejad's rhetoric is that you are only condemning rhetoric. The President of Iran has little foreign policy making power within their government and no control over their military, he's merely the face of the state. I felt Obama's "open letter" to the Iranian people and imams was a more effective tactic.

Who said "I'm sorry" or "I apologize"? Admitting that you have been wrong isn't necessarily an apology. It's a realization.
