I think people put to much stock in WR's..."see ocho cinco without Palmer"....I don't care who your WR's are, teams cannot crowd the line of scrimmage with Cutler at QB....It changes the whole game...It takes that safety out of the box that has been there for the last 20 years against the Bears....Throw in the fact that Forte is tough...I think the Bears are contenders...

I think Denver got the better end of this deal IMO.

Denver has set themselves up quite well to re-build into a strong contender within the next 2-3 years.

 

Orton is a much better QB than he gets credit for, IMO. He's efficient. He manages games well. He's tough. And, perhaps most importantly, he's a leader. I think people are dismissing his value in the trade. The Broncos got a better player than a lot of people think.

 

They have a few solid pieces in place to work with and now they have 4 first round picks in the next two years. If they draft well, this team could be very good in a few short years.

 

This year, Denver will have the following picks: 12, 18, 48, 79, 84, 114, 140, 185, 225, 235

 

Next year they'll have 2 first rounders, and one pick in each remaining round.

 

I like what the Broncos did with this move.

Really think about this trade. This is a QB driven league just look back at the past say 10 Super Bowls. People are blowing Orten up (I think he can play and his WR's will make him better) but he couldn't even beat out Rex Grossman on his own team! People are now saying he is better than Cutler who is a top 10 QB in the league. The Broncos had the 2 or 3rd top offense in the league last year. Their defense was awful which is why Shanahan is gone. They can stockpile and get better there. Cutler needs to grow up some but I think he puts Chicago in shape to have a really good offense for a long time with Forte. They have to get a #1 WR.

I'll be honest...I really think Denver will still work out a deal for B. Quinn before it's all said and done.

Better than what a lot of people think. I imagine Denver has a pretty good idea of what they got. I think you've confused yourself by applying "better than Cutler" in place of "better than people think".

 

People are treating Orton as a throw away in this deal, when the reality is he's a decent QB.

That's Orton's #'s projected over 616 attempts, just like Cutler had. Of course, one can only wonder what the presence of Brandon Marshall in Chicago and his absence in Denver would do to the numbers.

The gap in their numbers isn't as big as you think.

 

But, I'm not arguing about who the better QB is. I'd take Cutler any day of the week at this point. The problem is, they didn't trade Cutler for Orton. They gave up two first round picks and a third rounder, while getting only a fifth rounder back.

 

They paid too much. And, I don't expect Chicago to see the payoff you'd need from a trade like this.

 

My prediction...Jay Cutler is the beginning of the end for Lovie Smith as head coach in Chicago.

That's a legit debate. Usually you have to wait about 3-5 years to look back on it and see who it helped hurt more. I think we are on the same page.

Any word on T. Holt and the Titans? I think that would be a great move for them!

I don't know. I haven't been keeping up with the football off-season as much as in past years. I didn't even know he was considering going to Tennessee.

 

Sounds like a good move to me, assuming they can get him at a reasonable price. He's not worth overpaying at this point in his career.

I'm with you. I think Denver made the right decision and I think they got great value in the trade. Obviously, how the trade is ultimately viewed will depend on what the Broncos do with their picks (and, depending on how long they go with him, what Orton does at QB).

 

I'm not as enamored with Cutler as others are. You can't argue with the physical gifts, but I'm not convinced he's got the rest of the package that you want from a QB. Maybe he'll prove me wrong...

And again Cutler had no help from defense and no running game, Denver did not need to be in the playoffs they where not ready for that, however they do get some added help to the defense this year and then get rid of there QB?? now wht? do you really think Orton will pick up where Cutler left off H!!! no!, The best thing for Denver is to go get USC QB.
