It is not just a question of Price.

 

There is also the question of playing time. He would have to agree to platoon in Left Field and give Votto a day off now and then at first base.

 

If Sheffield would agree to that coming in, then it is a no-brainer sign.

 

If not, send him on down the road, the Reds don't need a distraction.

I don't really want him. If their going to bring in a veteran whose career is on the decline he needs to be a great leader who will have no chance of screwing up locker room chemistry. With the reputation Sheffield has, I don't think he is that guy. I'd love to see a Sean Casey type guy come in, but I don't see anyone like that available.

I don't either, but for 400K if he will accept his role, he could have huge year at Great American.
