I am surprised at how many teams got to play today. Ryle's field was not even close to being playable today and won't be tomorrow either. :irked: Makes me wonder what fields in Northern Kentucky handle rain the best or have a tarp to cover the whole infield.

St. Henry I know has a tarp. I would assume Cov Cath's drains well as they were able to play yesterday and they sit up on a hill. Other than that I am not sure.

Boone County drains well, except for a few spots in the outfield.

They also have a tarp for the infield. Team also works extremely hard to get field ready to play whenever possible. They like that song from Blind Lemon - No Rain.

Ludlows field or at least back in the day's drained great!

 

CovCath does drain well, and Coach Krumps and Coach Eck and the guys put a lot of hours in getting the field playable. Sure wish CovCath had a tarp.....

BC has a full-sized tarp for the entire field? I did not know that. Lucky for them!

 

So many fields are just made of the wrong soil mixture and it causes drainage issues. Ryle's field is basically just all dirt. No clay, no sand, no field conditioner mixed in. It would be wonderful if you planted flowers in there because it holds water so well, but for baseball purposes . . . :ohbrother:. And not having any tarp other than for the mound and plate, both of which a glorified pieces of Saran Wrap, doesn't help either.

IMO no other field can compare with St. Henry's ability to take handle a good hard rain. St. Henry's field drains very well.

Talking about rain. I know I heard this morning that we were in for a wash out and storms in the afternoon. I live in Bonne County and as of 4:25p.m. I am still waiting for this wash out, looks like our weather men struck out today!:confused:

Played 3 games at Boone today, Varsity at 1:00 vs. Highlands and 2 JV games vs. Dixie. Needed sunscreen for the 2nd JV game - seriously.

Three games were played on the new field at Beechwood today.

I heard Boone got their tarp from the Florence Freedom this year since they went to turf field. Lucky them!!!!

 

Florence did give the turf to the Rebels in return for Boone County allowing the Freedom to hold their spring training there.

Smart move on Boone's part. A full infield tarp costs between $2500-5000, depending on the quality, so a good investment for Boone.

I just wonder if the Girls Fast Pitch team will now cry that the boys have a tarp and if they (the girls) don't get one, the boy's can't use theirs?
