Wow, I thought the Blue Tornado were the favorites this year. Nice win Marshall.

Marshall has the heart touching story and maybe a litttle angel on their side as Marshall's coach lost his young son to a brain tumor a few months ago.

Not an upset at all, at least to those that actually see these teams on a regular basis.

 

Marshall got big games from Scott McKenty (22 points) and Josh Madding (18 points), the latter of which is just now rounding into form after breaking a bone in his hand during football season. According to the stat sheet, Madding also had led the Marshals in rebounds and assists.

 

Tilghman led 46-45 going into the third quarter and still had a one-point lead at about the 4:00 mark.

 

Marshall was 20-27 from the foul line in the 4th quarter. Tilghman was 7-21 for the game. Sophomore point guard Josh Forrest was 4-15 from the line. Forrest had a double-double (18 points and about a dozen or so rebounds) and a few blocked shots and assists, but he's got to address his free throw problems. They're undermining the rest of his game.
