Will Jacque Jones?

I think so too, but I don't think it'll happen.
I agree ... that would be asking Dusty to be resourceful and innovative.

Personally, I hope he does make the roster. He had a great year in 2006, his only year with Baker in Chicago. He hit .285, with 28HR's, he was also solid with the Twins.

He is a decent player, and much better than Patterson, Freel, Hopper, and all the other junk that has patrolled the Cincy outfield over the past few seasons. Jones was solid with the Twins, then just fell off. If he goes to spring training, and stinks it up, send him packing.

Career Numbers:

.277

165 HR

630 RBI

Jones has hit .325 against St. Louis the past three years, which may be one reason why Jocketty likes him. He's also a .279 hitter against Milwaukee over the same time period.

But over the last two seasons, he's hit .256 with 5 HR in well over 500 at-bats.

Bottom line ... Jones is an aging player just clinging to the possibility of making a major-league roster.

I like what he could potentially bring to the table though, and he's coming cheap. It's a great job by Walt Jocketty, IMO.

That is the truth, but hopefully he found the fountain of youth, if not, send him packing....

For the record, I'm not against the signing, I just hope that Dusty doesn't stay enamored with Jones like he did Patterson last year if there is the same lack of production.

I think that is the legitimate concern. Corey Patterson never put up the numbers in Cincy and yet was in the lineup every day. Should Jones make the team, will this be a repeat? Or will Jocketty do some bud nipping first.
