So do you think playing DivIII gets you ready to compete in the Region?

Romes isn't doing to bad at MSJ either, Pelle competed on top notch AAU teams, but scoring or averaging 40 pts a game against the competition in DIII. There is no real defense played in DIII, at not least the kind that forces you to run an offense. DIII is not the same as playing a team sport were the goal is to win a real championship.

The problem with all this is playing each team 2x it just doesn't give you enough opportunities to get better.

Dayton seems to be building for the future with a fine young team. When this team becomes juniors and seniors do you really think continuing to play this schedule will let them compete in the Region or do you just set lower goals?

Dayton will be a good DIII team, but that's all. They wouldn't stand a chance outside of their schedule now. There would be no point to change it either.

The reality is that nearly all of the smaller schools must set other goals than simply regional/state championships, because we all know Bellevue, Dayton, Grove etc. are not likely to advance to regional championships. (and by the way, that includes Beechwood in most years) Yea Bwood has had a few good years here of late, but it hasn't been that many years since they were no better than Ludlow, Dayton Bellevue etc., and they will again have down years. How many DIII schools have advanced to regional/state championship games in recent history. So the answer is set attainable goals of conference chamionships, All A success, etc., and if you exceed them, it's icing on the cake, but what good is it for these schools to play Holmes, BC, Highlands etc., when the reality is they simply cannot compete at that level. That's why there are DI, DII, and DIII divisions.

What about the schools like Shelby Valley, Elliott Co, Hazard, Bardstown, etc who are just as small but year in and year out are still contenders around the state? If Dayton, Bellevue, Ludlow, etc want to get better, it starts with improving the schedule...from freshman on up. Beechwood has ALWAYS played the bigger D2 and D1 schools. Sure they may take their lumps here and there but it's going to make them better in the long run, and we're seeing it right now.

Don't forget Ludlow's girls, I'm pretty sure Aaron Stamm wishes his girls weren't tied into the 2x rule. The other divisions of NKAC do not require it! Why Not? Baseball does not require it. Maybe one of the public small schools would have a chance in the All A region if they played a better schedules.

Beechwood plays the big schools from 7th grade up they aren't telling their kids to set low goals. They take their lumps but they are trying to improve. Only the future will tell.

Playing against Div. III (intramural type) basketball!!! He is a nice player and should be playing against better competition.

Maybe all the DIII schools should just fold their athletic programs because they're just "intramurals," and all the good players should just transfer to the big schools with "real" programs.

Or Villa, Dayton, Ludlow, Silver Grove should just play Holmes CovCath and Highlands every year so they'll all live up to Flops standards.
