5th Grade Thunder Snow Shootout

Because these are the organizations that sponsor the teams..Omega Processing is a business and the Wolfpack are a basketball organization. Why would they put a county name for their team???

What's the big deal with Campbell County Omega Processing if they are Campbell County kids all. Wolfpack is a basketball organization, what does that mean? There's nothing wrong with being an AAU traveling team with kids from various schools, but if the kids go to the same school in any way why not put the county or district out there. Mason County kids are all Mason County, they're not Blazers, Wolf Pack or whatever basketball organization and they travel as AAU.

So all the kids on Mason Co.( Sweeney) go to the same grade school..

Yes, can't think of what the grade school is called off hand. Mason County 2(Bickley) and Mason County 3(Mack) also go to same grade schools as Mason County 1. That's around 36 5th graders for 3 teams. Bracken County has five 5th graders and three 4th graders on the 5th grade team.:deadhorse:

Mason is Straub Elementary.

Part of the issue is that the Campbell County school district does not widely support AAU basketball. Their focus is on the youth recreational league. Therefore, we have an incredible sponsor (Omega) and they get the naming rights for their support. The least we can do is give them some Marketing.

There are 9 kids on the team. 8 live in Campbell County and 1 lives in Pendleton.

Why aren't they called Campbell County Omega then? What's with the Omega and Wolf Pack names if these kids all attend the same school?, would make it easier for one to not assume that the kids come from all over. (Highlands Wolf Pack, anything would suffice) At least all the Mason County traveling teams put the County on the name. Only bring up the small town issue because the last I saw Omega(Campbell County?), they went about 12 deep(2 good teams really),as does Mason County 1, with all 5th graders(11 or 12 year olds?). Bracken's 7 players are all 10,except for one. That's really why made the non-issue, same county thing.:deadhorse:

Because that's not what the sponsor wanted. This was originally the thought 3 years ago when the team was put together. However Omega Processing graciously volunteered to sponsor the team and pay the bills in return for them having their name on the team. Is it a school team? no. Do we have one kid from Pendleton County? yes.

We play select tournaments in hopes of getting our kids more experience and better prepared for middle school ball. We have never had a tryout and never will. When we lose one kid, we talk to parents we know and pick up one as necessary. For us, it's more about parents and family than winning. We have to spend a lot of time together so we want to make sure that everyone gets along and enjoys spending time together.
