This Weekend at SOAS

Thread started to talk about basketball at the Mt. Zion location... Discussing games, players to watch or what ever... The AAU thread is getting too big and the same topics come up daily... 14U, Ky Bulls beat the Wildcats, Warriors beat the Royals and later the Royals beat the Flight... Good luck to all...

Flight won the first game against the Wolfpack 2 by 10+ then lost to the Royals by 6 or so in an ugly game.

Royals picked up Labare (sp) a real heady player and Engelman (sp) who will be tough once he gets it.

Warriors were shorthanded playing only 6 kids against the Royals this past weekend. I heard Nate Grosser the Warrior big man had 15 pts and Luke Turner pitched in 8.

Royals should be a pretty tough team with the recent big men... Should be another good session.

I believe I saw the Knicks beat the Flash in a close game as well. The young man from St. Mary's played well, as did Monson. Solid effort from each of the Knicks players. Flash seemed a bit 'off'.

Knicks also picked up Jarrod Bowling, Twenhofel, and a few other St. Marys players.

NKY Warriors 14U beat up on the Indians (HolyCross futures) today 48-25. Nate Grosser led with 16pts, Bailey Witte and Luke Turner pitched in 9 each and both had 5 assists. Kid from the Indians, Mike Hewitt (St.Joes Crescent) is a nice player on the blocks for the Indians.

Bulls beat the Flight. I wasn't there so I'm sure Dad or Pop can give us some details.

Knicks beat the Royals tonight.....46 - 23. The team plays well together! Their record is 3 - 0.

Bulls jumped out early 9-0 and Flight never really recovered... Bulls were up by as many as 25??? Flight made a late run but never really got it under 15.

Sounds like the Knicks have put together a formidable team. Who all is on their roster? I know Saunders from St. Marys and some kids from Twenhofel.

The Knicks has Norton, Lucas, Bowling, and Monson from Twenhofel. Franzen from Summit View. Ubel, Frommeyer, and Saunders from St. Marys. They mesh very well together.

Correction... Jake Elbert-- not Frommeyer (step-brother to J. Frommeyer)

NKy Warriors 14U won 2 games today in league play. They looked very good jumping out in front early and often scoring 18 1st qtr pts in both games.

Game 1

Warriors 54

OldSpice 37

Nate Grosser just owned the boards and scored 17. Luke Turner pitched in 15 for the Warriors.

Game 2

Warriors 50

NKYWildcats 13U 35

Grosser had 15 and Donovan McCoy had 15 as well. This group has been lights out shooting the ball the past couple weeks.

On the subject of games played today was most of the boys' 52nd basketball game since NOv 1st combining school ball/AAU. The 3 Catholic boys on the roster its probably more like 80th game. WOW

Yesterday the KY Bulls had an impressive win over the N. Ky Bulls... I believe it was 55 - 24??? They played the Indians in the second game, winning by 11 or so (Only one started played in the last four minutes when they had a 20 point lead)... Hats off to the Indians, they are a scrappy bunch and will hit 3's if you don't get out on them... Both were impressive wins IMO.
