Team A has the ball and Team A's coach gets a technical foul called on him. Which of the following is the correct ruling and please provide KHSAA rule # if possible.

1. Team B receives 2 free throws and the ball.

2. Team B receives 2 free throws but Team A gets the ball back since they had it when the technical foul was called.

I do not have a rule book in front of me #1 is correct two FT's and the ball. so it is always better to get a T when the other team has the ball.

This is an easy one, 2 free throws and the ball.

Is the NCAA different in this area than KHSAA?

To my knowledge, they are the same. I am curious if this is different.

Yes, they are different. NCAA is point of interruption.

Yes that is correct and NCAA is different Choice #2 would be correct if in NCAA game.

This is correct, another difference is the coach has to sit down in High School, but college they can still stand up and coach.. interesting.........

Overkill on my part, but I like to chime in on rules stuff from time to time. All the above posts are correct. :thumb:

In high school any T at any time provides the other squad two shots and the ball. At the college level, T on coach is two shots and point of interuption.

Thanks to all who replied! I guess I owe an official an apology! Dang it! I hate to admit it when I am wrong! Oh well.....

When would a T on Coach A not result in the other team getting the ball?

Do you shoot FTs on all T's?

Never in High school. a T is always always the ball and two shots. In the case of a double T on two players then no shots and point of interruption, the team with the ball gets it back.
