gchs_uk9 Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 Garrard County looks to get back into the win column after a tough loss to Danville tonight. The Lions struggled with Boyle two weeks ago, pulling out a 45-43 victory. It would seem to be even tougher to win at Boyle. Garrard still controls their own destiny in the 45th District, while Boyle really needs a win to avoid the 4/5 play-in game with KSD. This is another huge 45th District game for both teams. The current standings look like this: 1. Garrard County (3-1) 2. Lincoln County (2-1) 3. Danville (2-2) 4. Boyle County (0-3) 5. Kentucky School f/t Deaf Historical Preview: *This marks the 83rd meeting between the schools *Boyle County leads the all-time series 50-32 *This will be the 43rd meeting at Boyle County, with the Rebels leading 30-12 *Boyle has won the last four at home in the series; the last Garrard win was in 2003 (84-73) *Garrard has won two of the last three overall in the series *Garrard County's 16 victories are tied for the sixth most in school history *Garrard County has won their last two road games. The record for most consecutive road wins is five, done between 1969-71 and 2000-01
ebayer Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 I am a little concerned that Garrard's early success was a bit of fools gold. All their big wins were at home. Can they get a win on the road in the district? If I were a Garrard Co. Fan I would be worried. They need to right the ship against Boyle Co. or this mid season flury could be in the tank.
LCPATS Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 Garrard and Boyle seemingly always play close games. Tough rebound game, after a tough loss. This should be a good one...

Fools gold? I don't know about that. But most of the wins did come at home. Danville is the worst type of team for Garrard to play. Quick and physical. They just didn't play well. Haven't been in school (or played) for two weeks either - looked a little rusty at times. Boyle is a tough opponent. A loss is very possible; the Rebels nearly knocked off Garrard a couple weeks ago. But even if Boyle does win, I think it's far too early to write off Garrard County.
UnderPar Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 "Fools Gold" is a strong statement! Wow....
ebayer Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 Fools gold is a figure of speech. Don't get your tows stepped on. I didn't mean anything by it.

Fools gold is a figure of speech. Don't get your tows stepped on. I didn't mean anything by it. I'm aware of the saying. And based on the previous quote, it seems as if you meant that their wins weren't that good, they were all at home, they haven't won a district road game, the ship must be righted at Boyle, and/or the season could be in the tank. I might actually be inclined to believe you (I had this same conversation with a friend last night), but you didn't back it up with an argument. Now, my toes aren't stepped on and I'm not too worried. First off, the wins are basically just about as good as any other team in the 12th Region. The best five would be over Southwestern, Woodford, Grant, Lincoln and East Jessamine (in order of occurance). Second, most of the wins have been at home and that's partly because of the schedule. It just so happens that in odd numbered years Garrard gets Boyle and Lincoln at home first, then on the road. Been that way for about 45 years. Garrard did lose at Anderson County and at West Jessamine early in the season. But they also have already won at Danville, which means they have won a district road game. They have two other chances to win district roads game this weekend with Boyle on Friday and Lincoln on Monday, two teams Garrard beat a couple of weeks ago. Does Garrard have to win at Boyle or the season is ruined? Absolutely not. They do need a win for confidence sake. But to argue that, at 16-4, the season is close to going in the tank might be a bit premature.
ebayer Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 gchs_uk9, please post your up-to-date 12th region rankings. That was one of the best posts that I have seen on here.:thumb: I would like for you to do that again as of 2-6-09. Thanks in advance.
SouthernSportsFan Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 Garrard County 72-66 I just don't think Boyle County is a good team.

I've been waiting because there just haven't been many games played over the last couple of weeks. I'll try and do it at the beginning of next week after this weekend's games are finished. Suffice to say that there will be some changes!
