Holmes 69 Dixie Heights 46

Featured Replies

Holmes was just that dominant tonight. Controlled the boards and both Rico and Riley pretty much did whatever they wanted when they had the ball.

Riley is having a heck of a season and sounds like hes really leading his team? Does anyone know of any colleges looking at him?

Sounds like a character flaw to me...

Sportsmanship is a matter of being good (character) and doing right (action) in sports. The majority of acts that we consider bad in sports and call 'unsportsmanlike' are bad precisely because they are unfair, dishonest, disrespectful, or against the rules.

Let's remember basketball is a game. It's not life. I don't think it's fair to question a kids character or values because of what may or may not have happened on the floor. Some people use different things for motivation on the Basketball court and as long as they leave it on the court why should they be judged. I could be off base here, and please feel free to correct me.[whoever disagrees]. I just don't think it's right to question the young man's character based on a basketball game.

Mainly junior colleges but Morehead is also showing interest in him.

Riley is really the catalyst for this team. He handles and shoots the ball so well it makes it tough for defenders to guard him.

Actually I'd say it was Pittman who got in Pike and #32's head which is why they both ended up with 4 fouls from continually throwing elbows and tripping Pittman. Pittman didn't really start "talking" until the 4th quarter when the game was well in hand. Pittman was definetly in #32's head which is why he got in Pittman's face during the technical shots and pushed him...honestly anyone who saw that knows the kid should have been ejected from the game and t'd up. It wasn't just a forearm push...the kid took both hands, put them in Pittman's chest and shoved him full extension, only to have the ref just stand there and watch as the PLAYERS took control of the situation.

Pittman knows his limits. Whether people like it or not, he's going to continue to talk. Let's not point the finger at just one player though. It's not like the other players don't talk back and do the same things. Pittman is an emotional player and that's what fuels his game.

Pittman Ran his mouth from the start of the game til Coach Henley sat him in the fourth quarter looked to me like Pike was fine he even stepped in between Raliegh and Pittman were arguing at half court, shows alot of maturity on his part. Pittman got in his face and said something in which Raliegh said something back. Nobody Shoved nobody it was i little bump, if Pittman is gonna dish it out he's gonna get it back.

Pike ended up with 3 fouls and so did Raliegh there was no TRIPPING and if elbows were thrown it wasnt like Pittman wasnt throwing full swings at Dixie players

I agree....after the game the kids shook hands and showed respect for one another by giving a half hug, so honestly it'd be foolish to question a kid's character because of a basketball game.

Good for him. Is he a lock down defender or was Trammel was just off, hes averaging double digits this season and he didnt score a point on Riley.

Pike was also guarding Rico when he hit those long three's. He scored on him more than you think.

As far as him not being in on Rico's dunk, it much have been #32 then that it was over.

Rico Didnt score a long three on Pike

With all things said it was a hard fought game and Dixie deserves credit for fighting hard.

Holmes is a great ball Club and Henley has done well with those kids

Honestly, all three players were running their mouths to eachother the WHOLE game, so let's not sit here and try to point out just one player and make them look like the bad guy. I said earlier that Pittman was doing his fair share of talking but there were several times where Pittman went to the line from being tripped. Heck, one play he went up for a rebound and was pushed from behind to the ground. No party is innocent here. As someone said in an earlier post, this was a very physical game.

Raleigh DID push Pittman though...that's why all of the players got in between them. Trust me, I was sitting right there at midcourt when it all happened.

Any numbers from the game? Did Holmes shoot over 50% from the floor?

Riley usually guards the opposing team's best guard. He's a pretty good defender.

I believe the technical was when he was guarding Pike. Pike picked up his dribble and couldn't go anywhere so he just lowed his shoulder and plowed in to Pittman and a foul was called on Pittman. Pittman and Pike kind of jawed back and forth and then the technical was called.

A technical should have also been called on #32 for Dixie though as well. While both teams were standing at half court during the shots Pittman was standing there and #32 (who was MAYBE 6'2) turned around and came and got in Pittman's face and then pushed him...full extension. The ref was standing right there but did nothing. It was only Pittman's third foul but Henley pulled him to keep anything from escalating.

I would have to disagree on the techinical foul for #32 Raliegh for Dixie. He is actually only 5'11 at the most. Pittman started trash talking within the first thirty seconds of the game. He continued to push taunt and provoke the entire game. I am not against a little jawing but this young athlete takes it above and beyond anything I have seen before. I was dissapointed to see him continuing to talk and give jabs the entire game without the ref saying anything. This young man is a dissapointment. A young man full of talent but alot of disrespect. I watched after the game, he refused to give #32 a fair shake and then threw some foul language his way. This is not really the kind of athletes we should want representing our schools. Also after the game was over, he continued his taunting and trying to get things stirred with the Dixie players getting on their bus to come home. If I was Henley I would get this boy straight and fast, before he does some damage to a future career.

Anyone know the box score, or how many points Rico and Riley had? Sounds like they both had good games.

I love his on the ball defense. He deflects a lot of passes with those long arms.

Riley and Rico were the leading scorers for Holmes with Pittman and JJ both probably having right around 10 points each...give or take a few. Housely also had a pretty decent night.

BTW... Arnold didn't play at all tonight. Slusher got the majority of the minutes.
