kybredsfan Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 (edited) Harrison co. has many but Jared Martin sticks out to me. Edited February 3, 2009 by gold sunrise Rule #13
inthesuite Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 Look out for Cody Curtis and Ty Combs for the Montgomery County Indians, two of the most solid players in the 10th, they both deserve a spot in the top 10 best players in the region. Look for them to lead the Indians to maybe making some noise in the 10th this year!
Breds Fan Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 Josh Moss, Malcolm Thomas, Matthew Dye,and Jared Martin are juniors from Harrison County that people should watch out for. Sophomores Shane Fowler and Logan Daily are also great baseball players. Senior Eric Case may have the best glove in the 10th region at shortstop for the breds.
KY Thorobred Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 Harrison is loaded and thier tough schedule should help them make a run in the state tournament. Others in the 38th district would be Kyle Campbell @ Nicholas and Patrick Johnson @ Pendleton.

Others in the 38th district would be Kyle Campbell @ Nicholas and Patrick Johnson @ Pendleton. Patrick Johnson from Pendleton Co. is a very talented kid with a tremendous family. He has also signed with the University of the Cumberlands to play baseball next year.
Redsfan9 Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 Don't forget E.J. Murray from Scott and Bob Estes from Campbell who both repped the 10th region in the Junior East/West State All-Star game last year
KY Thorobred Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 Patrick Johnson from Pendleton Co. is a very talented kid with a tremendous family. He has also signed with the University of the Cumberlands to play baseball next year. I heard he had his choices down to the Cumberlands, Brescia, and KWC. Congrats to Patrick and best of luck to him this year and with UC.

BaseballIsLife Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 Scott's standout players will be EJ Murray, Zach Sowders and Taylor Smith. EJ batted over .300 his junior year and Sowders batted just over .300 as well. Smith was about .270 but displayed tremendous amounts of power when he did contact as he was second on the team in HRs I believe with 3 or 4 homeruns. Sowders will be your speed guy and Smith will be more of your clean-up/power hitter. EJ will be more of an all rounder. You will probably see Sowders bat in the 1/2 hole alternating with Hiller (also with tremendous speed but needs to develop his hitting (great OBP though with all the walks he draws, however)). EJ will most likely be in the 3 hole with Smith in the 4. The big question is will these hitters be able to produce this year. They lost alot of their offense last year with graduation of Adams, Bianchi, Adkins, and Morrison. Last years team batted just under .300 for the year as a team combined. Last year, hitters like Sowders, Murray and Smith were able to benefit and perform well as they had some great hitters around them that were able to protect them so they were able to see more pitches. Just going to throw some numbers at you. I believe Adams last year batted about .400, with 10 HRs, and about 40 RBIs. Bianchi batted about .310 with 1 HR, and 20 RBIs. Adkins batted over .300 while Morrison was about .290. In general most of the opposing teams concentrated mainly on Adams and Bianchi and not letting them beat them, if they could. Thats why other players like Adkins, Murray, etc benefited. Lots of questions to be answered for the Eagles but they do have some talent in the wings.

That average sure went up in the District game against Brossart last season. HAHA. 15-14 with 8 homeruns. I can't say I have ever watched a more exciting baseball game in my life.

Outside of Murray, who are they counting on in the pitching department?
NKY sports CEO Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 Outside of Murray, who are they counting on in the pitching department? I do know that the only guys who gave us trouble last season were Adtkins and Murray. I just don't see anyone else on that team giving anyone any big trouble this season. They will have good pitchers but not good enough to bother good teams.

I just don't see anyone else on that team giving anyone any big trouble this season. They will have good pitchers but not good enough to bother good teams. Adkins graduated. Adams, if not for his injury his junior year, would've been the #1 and huge threat to all teams including Harrison but didn't pan out as his arm never recovered. Murray is about all they have in the pitching department. The next best guy is probably either Sowders or Hiller but its a huge dropoff I assure you. If Hiller gets things under control he is actually a better pitcher than Murray but he is having issues with his command. Going to be a long season for the Eagles. They have got some major questions that have to be answered in about everywhere you can think of like offense, defense, pitching, work ethic (and yes I said work ethic). I have been truly disappointed in the kids turnouts for off-season weights these past few years. The only ones who showed up for a regular basis for each and every day for the past few years have been Adams, Sowders, Smith, and I'm sure there are others too but those are the most noteable that come to mind. Others like Adkins, Bianchi and Murray all had basketball so I understand them. The others had no excuse for not being there. Scott HAS the talent. The problem is that talent is unmotivated.

Some of the things you are saying is so untrue. I know for a fact how many show up for weights this year and in the past. Actually you talk about motivation must be working this year because Scott is averaging about 24 to 25 kids each night at weights. Scott will be fine this year with what they got coming back and with JV players moving up. Biggest hurdle they will have is in the catching dept. Scott has fine Coaches at the Varsity Level with lots of experience and they make the kids practice hard and prepare for games day in and day out.
