So I just got an email from the professor of my night class....He's decided to give us a quiz tonight....He then sent another email saying that numerous students have emailed him asking why he would give a quiz when the weather is so bad that many students won't be able to make it, and he said that if class is on, the quiz will take place, and those that can't make it because of the weather will be given a zero.

You can bet I'd take the 0.

I say none of you go.

I only had one class today and that was early this morning and a math class so I was extremely excited. I just dont see what NKU would be getting out of it to have staff and students venture into this kind of weather. You can say its money but if im a staff or student person and I was involved in a wreck or etc Id be sueing. My business law teacher told me if something happened sue everyone possible so if I as a student was told either show up or get a 0 on the quiz Id be sueing the teacher for forcing us to come in and NKU for not calling of school. Theyd be losing alot of money instead of risking it for one night of classes.

I agree and don't forget it's going to be rush hour when these students and staff are driving in. What a mess.

I wonder if reporting this to the head of the department would make a difference?

You can bet I'd take the 0.

The 5 or 6 people in the class I talk to regularly aren't going in either, so we're hoping that no one shows up.

Per Northern's website, night classes have been cancelled.

That's the best idea.

And I bet the professor is a little relieved. I'm sure he was just trying to get people to attend his class if he had to. But what a horrible approach to take...

Son just returned from taking his girlfriend back to NKU dorms for the first time in 2 days. He says the parking lots at NKU are a joke-completely covered. He said most roads were passable, even 275 and I-75, but if it re-freezes, there will be problems.
